Templeton, Charles D.

Charles D. Templeton, L. & N. Employe, Dies At Home in Central City

Central City, Ky., June 28 - Charles D. Templeton, 48 years old, telegraph operator for the L.&N. railroad, died at his home, Third and Broad streets, at 10 o'clock this morning from heat prostration. Mr. Templeton was working on the roof of his home when he was stricken and died before a nephew who was climbing the ladder to help him with his work, could reach his side.

Mr. Templeton was born at Penrod, Ky., and had been in the employ of the L.&N. railroad for 20 years. Surviving are three sisters, and a brother; Mrs. Will Tucker Central City; Mrs. Myrtle Sadler, Miss Geneva Templeton and Will Templeton, all of Dunmor. Funeral arrangements have not been completed but services will be held at Myers' chapel near Penrod.

Thompson, Tammy Sue

Central City, Ky. - Tammy Sue Thompson, 14, of Central City died Wednesday at her home. She was born January 3, 1964.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James O. Thompson; four brothers, James Douglas Thompson of Central City and Johnny, Glenn and Chester Thompson, all at home; six sisters, Jeanie Noffsinger of Central City, Vicky Cornette of Greenville, Charlene Tucker of Bremen, Robin Yonts of Rosewood, Ky., and Bonnie and Stacy Thompson, both at home, and grandparents, Mrs. C. M. Thompson of Troy, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Eaves of Central City.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City. Visitation at the funeral home.

Thornton, Amanda

Mrs. H. Thornton died Sunday at home in city
Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Thornton held Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Amanda Thornton, widow of Harry Thornton, died on Sunday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock at her home on Peters Street following a week's illness of bronchial pneumonia.

Mrs. Thornton was the daughter of Louis Arnold and Sarah Perkins Arnold and was a native Kentuckian, being born on March 10, 1853, and had she lived until the 10th of next month would have been 86 years old, probably the oldest resident of Central City.

When quite a young girl she married Harry Thornton, an Englishman from London, who passed away a few years ago after more than 50 years of happy married life. To this union five children were born, four of whom survive: Mrs. Pat H. McDowell, this city; Mrs. Lula Archer of Louisville, Thomas Thornton and William Thornton, Hammond, Ind.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the residence by Rev. James Thompson of the Presbyterian Church, of which church she had been a loyal, consistent member since a child.

Mrs. Thornton had, during her long life in Central City, made a host of friends by her cheerful, kindly disposition, many of whom assembled at her home to pay their last tribute of respect to this very good woman.

Interment was in Fairmount cemetery by the side of her husband, in the family burial plot of the Thornton family.

Thurman, Nellie

Service for Mrs. Thurman held Sunday

Island - Mrs. Nellie Thurman, 95, of Island, died Friday, March 31 at 11:45 a.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.

Mrs. Thurman was born in Muhlenberg County, December 22, 1882 and was a member at Morgantown Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, J.M. Thurman, Route 1, Island, Ky.; one daughter, Catherine Brown, Central City; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Isadore Welborn, Sacramento, KY; and Mrs. Dee O'Neal, Fontana, Calif..

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. John Guy Smith officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Thurman, Thelma Druzil

Greenville - Mrs. Thelma Druzil Thurman, 74, of 305 Wheeler Avenue, Greenville, died Saturday, June 23, 1984 at 4:45 a.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.

Mrs. Thurman was born in Muhlenberg County on October 14, 1909. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville.

Survivors include her husband, J.M. Thurman of Greenville; one son, Stanley R. Thurman of Greenville; two grandchildren, Mark Southard of Evansville, IN, and Teresa Southard of Greenville; one great-grandchild; seven brothers, Roy Dennis of Canton, OH; Marion Dennis of Greenville; Joe Dennis of White Plains; Howard Dennis of White Plains; Hershel Dennis of Gilbertsville, KY; Wesley Dennis of Clifty; Boyce Dennis of Vista, CA; and one sister, Mrs. Walter Swain of Drakesboro.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Robert Bozarth officiating, assisted by Rev. Willard Brown. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Timberlake, John Forrest

John Timberlake Dies Early Sunday

John Forrest Timberlake, 84, died at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital Sunday at 5:30 a.m.

A native of Tennessee, he had lived in the Cleaton community for 35 years. He was a member of the Cleaton Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters,, Mrs. Eula Capps, Mrs. Lois Morris, both of Nashville, Mrs. Evelyn Delecki, New Castle, Del., and Mrs. Gladys Page of Brooklyn, N. Y.; one son, Vance Timberlake of Chicago; one stepson, Bernice Hicks, Louisville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Irene Jones and Mrs. Louise Stoffer, both of Chicago; seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Tucker Funeral Home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Tinsley, Nanie Elizabeth

Mrs. Joe Tinsley Dies in Nelson

Nelson - Mrs. Nanie Elizabeth Tinsley, 37, died at her home here on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 11:10 p.m.

She was born in Butler County on July 27, 1910, and had lived in the Nelson community for 27 years.

She was a member of the Green River Chapel Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Nelson Creek Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Tinsley, two sons, Charles Neal and Raymond L.; one daughter, Mrs. Era Christian, all of Nelson; parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Cartwright, Bluff community; five brothers, Losco, Louisville; James, Calhoun; Frank, Edward and M. D., Central City; six sisters, Mrs. Opaline Arnold, Mrs. Ester Ray, Mrs. Lucille Neal, all of Central City; Mrs. Frances Caldwell, Louisville; Mrs. Virginia Sublett, Milwaukee, Wis.

Double funeral held for Mr. and Mrs. P.B. Tinsley
Veteran engineer of Illinois Central railroad died Dec. 23, day following wife's death.

A double funeral service was held December 24 for Mr. and Mrs. Philip B. Tinsley, who died at their home at 414 South Sixteenth street in Paducah. The funeral services were held at Roth's Funeral Chapel and the remains were laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery, Paducah.

Mr. Tinsley was a native of Muhlenberg County and was a valued employee of the Illinois Central railroad, being an engineer on the division between Central City and Paducah for the past 30 years.

Mrs. Amelia K. Tinsley, 56 years old, died December 22. Mr. Tinsley, 66, died December 23, 24 hours after the death of his wife. Both had been ill for several months.

Surviving are the following children: Philip B. Tinsley, Jr., of New York City; Mrs. Lillie Childers of Greenville, SC, William Wayne and Ina Clair, and one grand child, Shirley Anne Sights of Paducah.

Mr. Tinsley is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, Moses L. Tinsley of Louisville; Alex Tinsley, Ben F. Tinsley, Mrs. Tom Stroud, Central City, and Mrs. Delia Stroud of Union City, Tenn., and a host of friends.

Tipton, W.M. Estill

W.M.E. Tipton, 72, Dies in Russellville

Russellville - W.M. Estill Tipton, 72, a retired casket maker and a native of Muhlenberg County, died July 30 in Logan County Hospital.

Survivors are his wife; two brothers, Albert Tipton, Russellville, and Bernard Tipton, Evansville, Ind., and two sisters, Mrs. Elvis Stuart, Drakesboro, and Mrs. B.A. Parker, Chicago.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Todd, Delmar

Delmar Todd Is Killed Instantly In Graham Mine
Killed Instantly Tuesday When Huge Bulk of Slate Fell on Him; Services Held Wednesday.

Delmar Todd, 20 years old, Greenville, was killed instantly at noon Tuesday when a huge bulk of slate fell on him in the W.G. Duncan Coal company's pit at Graham. Todd, who had been employed at the mine for the last eight or ten years, was ripping slate from the roof, when the fall struck him. Three other miners near by, who had been helping Todd, were not injured.

The body was removed from the mine and to the residence at Greenville, where it was prepared for burial. Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church, with the pastor, the Rev. Roy Short, in charge. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

Surviving are the widow and three small children, his mother, Mrs. Leslie Todd; three brothers, Gerald, Robert and L. D. Todd; three sisters, Mesdames Fred Hill and Martin Sallee and Miss Maggie Todd, all of Graham.

Todd, Jennings Bryant

Bryant Todd, 72, Is Buried July 11

Graham - Jennings Bryant Todd, 72, of Madisonville, died in Hopkins County Hospital at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9. He broke his hip a month ago and had been ill since.

Mr. Todd was born Feb. 1, 1895 in Hopkins County, the son of the late Burnet Todd and Nancy Ann Sanders Todd. He was married to Kathryn Emma Smollen in 1967. He had lived in Madisonville for the past five years. Before retiring he had worked for the W.G. Duncan Coal Co. at Graham and New Braden mine in New Braden, Ill.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kathryn Todd of Madisonville; four sisters, Miss Doshie Todd of Madisonville, Mrs. Nora Hummel of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Audrey Mabrey of Apalachicola, Fla., and Mrs. Martha Popper of Vernon Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

Services were at 3 p.m. Friday, July 11, in Earlington, with Dr. Harry A. Pullen, Jr. of Madisonville officiating. Burial was in Graham Cemetery.

Travis, Billy Wayne

Travis Infant Dies

Browder - Funeral services for Billy Wayne Travis, 9-months old son of Mrs. Opal Travis, were held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the home of his uncle, Neeley Travis, with the Rev. David Martin officiating.

Burial was in the Dunmor Cemetery under the direction of the Parker-Harkins-Washburne Funeral Home.

He died early Saturday in Browder.

Tudor, Samantha Cassie Brown

Mrs. Cassie Samantha Brown [Tudor] died on Sunday, December 3, 1933, age 71 years, 10 months and 28 [days], born on January 5, 1862. Married January 19, 1888, to James H. Tudor, to this union was born eight children, of which seven survive.

Professed faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church at Oak Grove at about 12 years of age, later removing her membership to Cedar Grove.

She was true wife, a devoted mother, and lived a humble, Christian life.

Tudor, W.D.

Central City, Ky. - W.D. (Dan) Tudor, 82, died at his home in the Old Bethell community at 3 p.m. Wednesday. A retired farmer and carpenter, he was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Susan Ollie Tudor; three sons, Edgar, Emmett and Alton Tudor, all of Central City; four daughters, Mrs. Bob Noffsinger, Mrs. Charlie Blakely, and Mrs. Shelby Jones, all of Central city, and Miss Willa Dean Tudor, Route 1, Central City; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Old Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. F.A. Kittinger, former pastor, assisted by the Rev. Bryant Wice, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery, Central City.

Pallbearers: Grandsons.

The body was to be removed from the Tucker funeral Home to the residence late this afternoon.

Tunstill, Alice

Miss Alice Tunstill, 100, of Bellmeade Nursing Home in Greenville, formerly of Lewisburg, died Monday, Oct. 16, at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

She was the daughter of John William and Louise O'Neal Tunstill and was born Sept. 7, 1889, in Muhlenberg County. She was a retired seamstress and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Price Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie Forrest officiating. Burial followed in the Elk Lick Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Morton Mayhugh, Robert Gibbs, Eldu McGehee, L.B. Martin, Jess Vincent and Walter Larmon.

Several cousins survived.

Tunstill, Fannie T.

Mrs. Fannnie Tunstill of Greenville Dies

Mrs. Fannie T. Tunstill, 94, died August 5 at 3:15 p.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

Born in Muhlenberg County, September 14, 1876, she was a member of the Paradise Baptist Church.

Her survivors include one son, Smith Tunstill, Greenville; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Rose Cavanaugh, Drakesboro; and one brother Carlos Smith, Ennis.

Services were held Saturday, August 7, at 1:00 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Fox officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Tunstill, Smith

Mr. Smith Tunstill, 82, of Greenville, died Thursday, March 13, 1997, at 6:35 p.m. at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.

Mr. Tunstill was born in Muhlenberg County on June 28, 1914. He was a retired superintendent from SuperValu, formerly J. Zinsmeister Company.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel Tunstill of Greenville; one son, Charles Tunstill of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Pat Gregory of Central City; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home Inc. in Central City with Charles Gresham officiating.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Turner, Henry H.

H.H. Turner, 82, Dies in Hopkins

H.H. Turner died in the Hopkins County Hospital at 6:30 p.m. Monday, two hours after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage in his home. Monday was Mr. Turner's 82nd birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Turner had moved to Madisonville from Greenville four years ago in January. Their daughter, Mrs. Otho Simms, died here recently.

A member of Madisonville First Baptist church, Mr. Turner is survived by the wife, Mrs. Dora Pendley Turner, Madisonville; four sons, Basil Turner, Elkhart, Ind., H.D. Turner, New Orlean, La., Charles Turner, Indianapolis, and Guy Turner, St. Joseph, Mo.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dr. Harold D. Tallant, pastor of First Baptist Church officiated and interment in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Tyson, Loubelia Francis

Mrs. Tyson dies at Hopkinsville

Mrs. Loubelia Francis Tyson died January 19, 1926 at the Jennie Stewart Hospital in Hopkinsville, Ky. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Dukes, of Luzerne, and is survived by husband, father, mother, two sons, three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held at her home near Nebo, with burial at Nebo Cemetery.

Tyson, Morton Wiley

Greenville, Ky. - Morton Wiley Tyson, 48, was fatally injured Wednesday while driving in a strip mine on his way to work. His automobile crashed head-on with a truck operated by the strip mine company. He was killed instantly. The accident occurred at the Duncan Coal Co., near Luzerne. The accident was investigated by M. V. Foster, Muhlenberg County coroner. Death was declared to be accidental.

Tyson was a member of the Luzerne General Baptist Church and an employe of the Duncan Coal Co. since 1924.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Tyson, Route 1, Greenville; one daughter, Miss Janet Lou Tyson; father, Tom Tyson, Route 1, Central City; and one brother, Martin Tyson, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Luzerne General Baptist church conducted by the Rev. Carrol Yarbrough. Burial will be in the Nebo cemetery. The body is at the home.
