James Campbell, 1825

I James Campbell Sr. of Muhlenberg County and Commonwealth of Kentucky being in a low state of health but in perfect mind and memory but believing that it is appointed for all mankind once to die Have thought proper to make this my Last Will & Testament in the following manner and form. To wit.

Item first, It is my will that all my just debts be paid.

Second. My will is that my dear wife Sally have her support of my farm and one sorrel mare named Nancy, two cows & one bead and furniture.

Thirdly my will is that my son James have the tract of land on which I live containing one hundred and fifty three acres together with all my other property horses, cows, hogs, sheep & farming utensils & household furniture except one bed & furniture a piece to my daughters Milly, Polly & Sally.

Fourthly my will is that as I have given to my son David & daughter Jane as much as I allowed to give them that they are not to have any more of my property.

I do hereby nominate and appoint my son David Executor of this my last Will and Testament.

I do now revoke & make void all other Wills by me made and do declare this & no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 22nd day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty five.

The foregoing Last Will & Testament of James Campbell deceased was exhibited into Court by the Executor therein named & proved by the Oaths of David Campbell & Nancy Eddes the Subscribing Witnesses thereto which is thereupon Ordered to be recorded.
