I, C.C. Oates, of Muhlenberg County Kentucky, in execution of my long cherished intention do hereby make this my last will and testament.
Having at various times deeded to my six surviving children certain parcels of land with which they are to be charged without interest in the final division of my estate among them at the prices stated in the deeds therein or if not so stated in in said deeds, they are to be charged at a fair and equitable valuation of said lands at the date of said deeds.
As an act of justice to, and affection for my beloved wife Susan A.C. Oates do hereby make the following bequest in her behalf as follows, to wit
Item first I will and bequeath to her my said wife all my personal property of whatever nature embracing household and kitchen furniture, farming implements, livestock, agricultural and food supplies, cash and cash notes, and all other indebtedness to me whatever.
Item second I will and bequeath to her my said wife a life estate in all that portion of my homestead lands not hitherto conveyed by deeds to various parties, which is fully described in a report of E.M. Brank, surveyor, and S.M. Wilkins and W.C. Martin, processors for Muhlenberg County, which report was filed in December 1851 and in addition thereto, I will and bequeath to her a life estate in a remnant of a tract of land conveyed to me by deed from Wyatt Oates dated 31st day of March 1856. The greater portion I have sold and deeded to C.W. Coleman.
Item third I hereby invest my said wife with full powers of attorney in fact to sell, alien, and convey all the residue of two tracts of land purporting to contain together 150 acres which lands were conveyed to me by Robert M. Randolph & his wife by deed dated the 21s day of June 1852 and this for the purpose of meeting my unpaid expenses or my debts up to the time of my death or for debts or expenses that may exist or accrue in consequence of my death.
Item fourth I hereby appoint my wife the said Susan A.C. Oates sole executrix of this my last will and testament and for her to enter upon the discharge of this trust without giving bond.
In testimony whereof in presence of the subscribing witnesses I have set my name this nineteenth day of December 1890.

The foregoing last will and testament of C.C. Oates deceased was produced to court on the date aforesaid and proved to be the act and deed of the said decedant by the oath of W.A. Armstrong one of the subscribing witnesses thereto who also proved the attestation of S.B. Jarvis the other subscribing witness thereto whereupon the same was ordered to be recorded which is now done accordingly.
