I, Ezekiel Rice, of the county of Muhlenberg and state of Kentucky, in the name of God, amen, being in the decline of life but of sound mind and disposing memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, and wishing to dispose of my worldly affects of which the Lord has blessed me with, to my own liking, do make this my last will and testament, towit
I will my just debts to be paid first.
Secondly, I will that my sons James W. Rice and Moses M. Rice have the land on which I now live, containing two hundred acres, with the appurtenances thereon.
I will my son Thomas J. Rice the tract of land on which he now lives, containing one hundred acres with the appurtenances thereon.
I will that my son Moses M. Rice & my daughter Louisa J. Duvall have all my horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, farming utensils, household and kitchen furniture.
I will unto my sons James W. Rice and Moses M. Rice all my smith tools.
I will that all my slaves be equally divided among my children, the part going to Mary C. Rice. I will to her to do with as she pleases, as I do not intend that William B. Rice her husband shall have any control of it whatever. After my debts are paid, it is my wish that the said slaves be kept in the family, that is among my children, if it can be done satisfactorily among them.
I also appoint my sons Thomas J. Rice and James W. Rice my executors. Whereunto I have set my hand and affixed my seal this 7th day of December 1846.
