Lawrence
Prewitt, son of James Prewitt and Susie Oliver Prewitt, was born in 1905.
He married
Rosa Caddell and
worked in the mines at Bon
Jellico and Harlan County. Lawrence became a Baptist preacher. Earl Lovitt
wrote, “I was present the night he got saved in the Bon Jellico
School House in a revival meeting. Lawrence was on his knees at the mourners’ bench
and all of a sudden up he came, shouted round the room, lost his billfold;
but he didn’t care. He had found the Lord.”
Lawrence
moved back to Whitley County in later years and lived on Cripple Creek
Road in
Williamsburg.
