W.R. (William) Kenney & wife Lottie Hardwick, Isaac Kenney Jr. & Nathan Kenney

William Kenney, his wife Lottie Hardwick and William's half brothers, Nathan & Isaac Jr. were
institutionalized at Eastern State Hospital. Isaac was born Oct. 26, 1828 and is believed to
have died between 1900 and 1910 at Eastern State Hospital.
Nathan was committed to Eastern State in 1903. Their parents were Isaac Kenney Sr.
and his first wife Nancy Parish. Isaac Sr. was born 5 Sept. 1807 in Bourbon Co. Kentucky to John
and Mary Johnson Kenney. Isaac Sr. died 16 June 1896, I believe in Bourbon Co. but not
sure as he lived most of the last part of his life in Nicholas Co. Nancy Parish Kenney was
born 1807 Bourbon Co. Kentucky, to Nathaniel and Mary "Polly Grooms". Nancy died 24 Nov. 1840 in
Bourbon Co Kentucky. Isaac Sr. and Nancy Parish married 18 March 1831 in Bourbon Co. Kentucky.
William R. Kenney was the son of Isaac Kenney Sr. and his 2nd wife Malinda Margaret Hamilton, who married 7 Jan. 1847 in Nicholas Co. Kentucky. Malinda M. Hamilton was born 4 July 1826 in Kentucky and died 5 Dec. 1897 in Nicholas Co. Kentucky. He was born 14 June 1861 in Nicholas Co. Kentucky and died 29 Jan. 1943 in Eastern State Hospital in Lexington, Fayette Co. Kentucky. He married Lottie M. Hardwick for his 3rd wife 23 Dec. 1914 in Nicholas Co. Kentucky. Lottie M. Hardwick was born 28 Dec. 1880 in Rowan Co. Kentucky and died
31 July 1952 in Eastern State Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co. Kentucky. They are both buried in Nicholas Co. Kentucky. Lottie was the daughter of James and Chrisina Anne Ockerman Hardwick. Lottie and William never had any children together but William had a son and a daughter by previous marriages.

The undersigned petitioner is reliably informed that W. R. Kenney is a person of unsound mind and a Lunatic. That his father is Dead that his mother is Dead, that Harry Hamon is the person having the custody of said defendant, and resides at Carlisle KY; that the said defendant is married and the name of wife Mrs. Lottie Kenney and resides at Eastern State Hosp., Lex. KY Your petitioner asks that an inquest be held to pass upon the subject, and for all proper orders Nannie Smoot (signature of petitioner) Sworn to before me this 14 Apr 1941 Attest: Lacy Barnett Clerk It is therefore ordered by the Court that Dr. E. A Campbell and Dr. B. F. Reynolds Physicians, be and they are hereby appointed to examine said defendant, and will certify to this court their findings in the case. It is further ordered that Mr. Row Esq., an Attorney of this court, be and he is herby appointed to represent the said defendant. Whereupon the said Medical Examiners having made due examination of said defendant, filed their report as follows: "We, the undersigned, have examined the said defendant within the three days just prior to the date of certificate; that in our judgment he is not insane person, and requires supervision and control for his own welfare, which can best be provided by commitment to ________ That the foregoing opinion is based upon the following facts and circumstances _____ Signed B. Obituary - Carlisle Mercury, Carlisle, Nicholas Co. Kentucky, Feb. 2, 1943 Deaths, Kenney, W. R. Kenney, 82, died at 10:30 P. M. Friday in a Lexington hospital where he had been under treatment for a long time. He was a farmer and lifelong resident of Nicholas county. His wife is also confined in the hospital. Besides his wife; Mrs. Lottie Kenney, a daughter, Mrs. Nannie Smoot of Carlisle survive. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Mathers-Potts Funeral Home by the Rev. James R. Thompson; pastor of the Carlisle Baptist Church. Burial was in the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Obituary - Carlisle Mercury, Aug. 1, 1952 Mrs. Lottie Hardwick Kenney, 71, widow of William R. Kenney, died at 7 AM Thursday in a Lexington Hospital after a five month illness. She was a daughter of the late James T. and Chrisann Ockerman Hardwick. Funeral Services were held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Mathers-Shearer chapel here, conducted by the Rev. J. J. Whitehouse. Burial was in the Carlisle Cemetery. Pallbearers were, J. L. William, Wesley Banta, Earl Hardwick, Avery and Dean McLean.

Insane- Nathan Kinney, until recently, living with his son near Bethel, was adjudged insane at Mt. Sterling and taken to the Lexington Asylum last Thursday. He is over 60 years of age. M. C. Gudgall, of near Sherburne, Accompanied the party taking him there.
