Records: Patients
There are multiple ways to find patient lists but often these records are considered confidential. Some older texts exists that contain names. Often through obituaries we find the names as well. Here you will find indexes to the patient lists and death notices.
Census Records
The records on this page were transcribed by Mary Hatton from 1870 and 1890 United States Census. In 1870, there were 508 patients listed in the US Census. The youngest was seven years old and the oldest was 79 years of age.

Other Records
The Old Kentucky State Hospital located in Danville, Ky. was closed about 1977. All patient records were transferred to Eastern State Hospital and were archived. It is possible for a direct descendant of the Old Kentucky State Hospital patient to be appointed administrator of that person's estate for purposes of accessing existing records.
