O'Bryan, Pearl (Blankenship) 1897-1996 Jones-Preston Funeral Home was in Charge of arrangements for Pearl Blankenship O'Bryan, who died Sunday, February 4, 1996 at King's Daughter's Medical Center in Ashland. Mrs. O'Bryan was born February 4, 1897, in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late William Blankenship and Laura Crank. She was a member of the Baptist church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde O'Bryan; and one daughter, Betty Jean Conley. Surviving are one brother. Delmar Blankenship of Columbus Ohio. Funeral services were held Tuesday February 6, at Van Lear Freewill Baptist Church, with Dick VanHoose officiating. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.

Pack, Delmar V. ‘Del’ -1941-2005-Graveside memorial services will be held Friday, September 16, 11 a.m. at the Dayton National Cemetery for Delmar V. “Del” Pack, 64, of West Carrollton, Ohio, who passed away Thursday, September 8.Mr. Pack was born May 20, 1941 in Stambaugh, Ky., son of the late Walter and Marie Stapleton Pack. He was a retired master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, a retired math teacher at West Carrollton Junior High School, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Pack; one brother, Paul Pack; and three sisters, Earlene Castle, Phyllis Irene Pack and Deborah Sue Bowling. Surviving are his brother, Ronald Pack; six sisters, Mary Blair, Gayle McKenzie, Joyce Hall, Jean Trimble, Brenda Thacker, and Charlotte Pack; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. The service will be officiated by Pastor Rob Wackerman. Local arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville, Ky.

Patton, Carrie (Collins) 1898-1996 Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thursday, February 8, for Carrie Ethel Patton, 97, of Ashland. Mrs. Patton was born September 13, 1898, in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Manford and Missouri Ellen Lemasters Collins. She was a member of the Carthage Nazarene Church in California, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Patton, in 1957. Surviving are three sons, Charles Frances Patton of Live Oak, Florida, Dew Martin Patton of Ashland and Harold Thomas Patton of Frankfort; three daughters, Joy Christine Franz of Ashland, Betty Sue Hamby of Alexandria and Mary Evelyn McCormick of California; one sister, Callie Cantrell of Pikeville; and 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. Officiating at services at Ashland First Church of the Nazarene will be Rev. John Hamby, Roger DeVore and Vernon Adams. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery, with Miller Funeral Home of Ashland in charge of arrangements.

Pelfrey, Rev. Gobel -82, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, formerly of West Liberty, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at his residence, following an extended illness. Born February 8, 1923, at West Liberty, Kentucky, Gobel was a son of the late Lawrence C. Pelfrey and Jewel Lyons Pelfrey. He was a retired crane operator for U.S. Steel, in East Chicago, Indiana, for 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1945 to 1947; a member of United Steel Workers Union, ElkFork Masonic Lodge, and a member of East End Baptist Church, in Morehead. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ithal Pelfrey, in 1990; one daughter, Judy Pelfrey; and a sister, Vivian Ferguson. Survivors include two sons, Cortis Pelfrey, of .North Ridgeville, Ohio, and Edwin D.Pelfrey, of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Lena Brown, of Crown Point, Indiana; 6 grandchildren;6 great grandchildren; and one brother, James Pelfrey, of Morehead. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug.27, at Herald and Stewart and Halsey Chapel, with Bro. Rick Pelfrey and Bro. Bob Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Fannin and Pelfrey Cemetery, at Crockett, with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home, of West Liberty, in charge of arrangements. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by the Morgan County D.A. V. Pallbearers were friends and relatives.

Pelphrey, Howard N. 1954-1990 Howard N. Pelphrey, 61, of St. Charles, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 20, 1996 at his home. He was born March 12, 1934 at Oil Branch in Johnson County and has lived at Van Lear and West Van Lear. Mr. Pelphrey was a retired truck driver for D.T.I. Transport in Sioux City, Iowa, a precision sheet metal worker for McDonald DOuglas Aircraft Industry and a former deputy sheriff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Alta Pelphrey, and three sisters, Opel Hitchcock, Freda Davis and Eula Bauer. Surviving are his wife, Barbra Pelphrey; one son, Steve Pelphrey of St. Charles; two daughters, Sheila Milburn of St. Peters, Missouri and Sandy Oravec of Creve Coeur, Missouri; one brother, Otchel Pelphrey of Amlin, Ohio; and three sisters, Rose Marie Moore of Westerville, Ohio, Jewell Snow of Columbus, Ohio and Mairiam L. Loring of Grove City, Ohio. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 22 at Paul Funeral Home, St. Charles with private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer ,Fund in St., Charles, Missouri.

Pendelton, Billie -In memory of Billie Pendelton. He was born March 28, 1899, the son of George and Mahala Lemaster Pendelton, who have preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Nancy Smith, Jan 9, 1926 and to this union was born 3 children. Mrs R. C. Lowe, Mrs Bobbie Joe Travis, and George Pendelton. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his 3 children, 9 grandchildren, 1 brother,

Pennington, Larry Douglas "Doug" -51, of Ashland, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.Mr. Pennington was born Nov. 15, 1953, in Pikeville, the son of Lou Anna Brown Pennington of Ashland and the late Larry O. Pennington. He was an employee of John Clark Oil Co. and a member of Christ United Methodist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children, Lacy and Jordan; two sisters, Linda Pennington and Judith Pennington, both of Ashland; and a brother, Gregory O. Pennington of Cincinnati. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday. Aug. 8, at Christ United Methodist Church by the Rev. Raymond Payne. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory O. Pennington, Jimmy Moore, Dave Barber, Larry Barber, Vic Marsh and Ken Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Warnick, Gene Kay, John Kemper and Lon Benters. Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements. Pennington, Netti Owens -1929-2005-Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, 11 a.m. at the Pigeon Enterprise Baptist Church for Netti Owens Pennington, 76, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Oil Springs, Ky., who passed away Sunday, September 4 at Community Hospital in Springfield, Ohio. Mrs. Pennington was born April 23, 1929 in Magoffin County, Ky., daughter of the late Manuel and Ella Tackett Meade. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Corbit Owens, and second husband, Eudell Pennington. Surviving are five sons, Scotty (Sandy) Owens of Indiana, Bobby (Wilma) Owens of Oil Springs, Ky., and Troy (Tammy), Jessie (Karen), and Michael (Michelle) Owens, all of Springfield, Ohio; three daughters, Josephine (Larry) Collins of Springfield, Ohio, Judy (Jerry) Hatfield of Staffordsville, Ky., and Edith (Ken) Damner of Jefferson, Mo.; one brother, Richard Meade of Oil Springs, Ky.; one sister, Virgie Caudill of Jacksonville, Fla.; and 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The service will be officiated by Paul Dean Mean and Mike Ferguson, with burial following in the Cantrell Family Cemetery at Oil Springs, Ky. Phillips, B.C. (Buster) -76, former co-owner of Elam Utility Company, West Liberty, passed away Mon. July 18, 2005. Phipps, Chalmer -beloved husband of Loretta Tolson Phipps, and son of the late Hershel and Edith Bush Phipps, was born in Morgan County, Kentucky, on January 14, 1933, and departed this life at St. Joseph Hospital, in Lexington, on Saturday, August20, 2005, at the age of 72 years, months, and 6 days. He was a member of the Church of God, and a retired farmer, construction worker and factory worker. Survivors include his wife, Loretta, of Hazel Green; three sons, Arnold Phipps and Donald Phipps, both of Campton, and Ronald Phipps, of Rogers; two daughters, Wyonetta Smith, and Lisa Ratliff, of Frenchburg; three brothers, Delmer Phipps, of Middletown, Ohio, Dallas Phipps, of Florida, and Roy Phipps, of Daysboro; one sister, Ella Fay Heatherly, of Middletown, Ohio;14 grandchildren; 5 step grand-children; 12 great grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Margie Wells; two brothers, Willard Phipps and Dillard Phipps; and one sister, Lillie Dawson. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 22, at Porter and Son Funeral Directors Chapel, in Campton, with Bro. Frankie Bryant officiating. Burial was in the Murphy Fork Cemetery, on Murphy Fork, in Morgan County, with Porter and Son Funeral Directors, of Campton, in charge of arrangements. Picklesimer, Kermit -1926-2005 Funeral services were held Monday, August 1, 1 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Kermit Picklesimer, 78, of Sitka, Ky., who passed away Friday, July 29 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.Mr. Picklesimer was born November 23, 1926 at Farmers, Ky., son of the late Oakley and Mallie Hitchcock Picklesimer. He was a retired miner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anita Jo Picklesimer.Surviving are one son, Rick Picklesimer of Sitka, Ky.; three daughters, Sherry Hinton of Frankfort, Ky., Terri Goble of Atlanta, Ga., and Krista Rodgers of Winchester, Ky.; two sisters, Helen Blair of Georgetown, Ky., and Lina Dean of Falmouth, Ky.; four brothers, Custer Picklesimer of Paintsville, Ky., John Picklesimer of Louisa, Ky., Allen Picklesimer of Zanesville, Ohio, and Kent Picklesimer of Flatwoods, Ky.; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.The service was officiated by the Revs. Tobe Wheeler and Mark VanHoose, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Ky. Pinson, Jean A. -74, of Sunshine Lane in Kimper, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at Pikeville Medical Center. She was born Nov. 12, 1930, the daughter of the late Ferd and Mallie Imogene Ball and the late Lassie Williamson (step-mother). She is survived by three sons, Sparrel Pinson of Lower Johns Creek, Curtis A. Pinson of Kimper, and Chester Pinson of Kimper; two sisters, Polly Brown of Huntington, W.Va., and Sue Corbett of Columbus, Ohio., five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Aug. 31, 2005 at Community Funeral Home with Ravin Field officiating.

Prater, Eldon -62,. of Clinton Howard Road, West Liberty, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital, in West Liberty. Born May 1, 1943, in Xenia, Ohio, Eldon was a son of Mary Alice Jenkins Prater, of Mount Sterling, and the late Roy Prater. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was a carpenter and farmer, and had been an employee of Frederick and May for30 years. Eldon was a member of the Assembly of Faith Church, Hwy.519, West Liberty. He was loved by his church and church family In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Buford Prater. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 37years, Reva Howard Prater; one daughter, Valerie and Tonya. Campbell, of West Liberty; one son, Jeffrey Eldon and Billi Nell Prater, of West Liberty; two grandsons, Wade Prater and Jonathan Campbell; two sisters, Margaret and Ed Snyder, of Hamilton, Ohio, and Opal Temme, of Butler, Ohio; three brothers, Elmer and Brenda Prater, of Salyersville, Gary and Linda Prater, of Mount Sterling, and Glenn and Betty Prater, of Marysville, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Leatha Howard and Donnie Backus, of Springfield, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted at1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Herald and Stewart and Halsey Chapel, with Bro. Harold Davis and Bro. Vernon Lewis officiating. Burial followed in the Lewis Cemetery, Hwy. 519, West Liberty, with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home, of West Liberty, in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were nephews. Honorary pallbearers were coworkers.

Price, Mary (Ferguson) 1934-1996 Funeral services were held Saturday, February 10, for Mary Price, 61, who died Wednesday, February 7, 1996 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Price was born December 25, 1934, in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Charles and Burbridge Price Ferguson. She was a member of the Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Price, in 1966. Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Spencer of Thelma and Gale Dalton of Hager Hill; four brothers, Earl Ferguson of Van Lear; Johnny Ferguson of Columbus, Ohio; and Dean Ferguson of Ashland; one sister, Pat Snowden of Bowling Green; and four grandchildren. Officiating at services at Chestnut Grove Enterprise Baptist Church was Terry Conley. Burial was in Price Family Cemetery at Thelma, with Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements

Price, Peggy, Claudetta-26, of Royalton, died Monday, March 21, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center, Paintsville. Born Sept. 23, 1978, in Clay County, she was a daughter of Jesse and Lora Mae Isaac Price. Additional survivors include a brother, Ronnie Slone of Royalton; and two sisters Jessica Kestner of Paintsville, and Martha Rose of Winchester. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, Friday< March 25, at Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel, Salyersville, with Herman Roberts Officiating . Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher Branch, under direction of Magoffin County Funeral Home.
