Danks, Ruth

The body of Mrs. Ruth Danks, 39 years old, arrived here Wednesday from South Bay, Florida. She died on Sunday morning at 9:30. She had been an invalid for several years.

Mrs. Danks is survived by her husband, Carr Danks, three sons, Almy Dale, William Daniel and Harold Bernard, all of South Bay; a sister, Mrs. Dudley Whitmer; her father, D.A. Hill of South Bay, Fla. Her husband's parents, Rev. and Mrs. R.W. Danks of Martwick.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Nelson Creek Baptist church by the Rev. Mr. Sanders of Beaver Dam. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Danks was a devout Christian woman and her death was mourned by all who knew her.

Danzy, Louise

Central City - Mrs. Louise Danzy, 95, of Central City died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1981, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. She was born in Muhlenberg County and was a Jehovah's Witness.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Willie Mae Ellis of Central City; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall, near Central City. Burial in West End Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville.

Davis, Bobby

Uncle Bobby Davis, colored, an inmate of the poor house, died there last Sunday morning, from the effects of old age. Burial was on the farm Monday.

Henry L. Davis, 59, Dies Near Penrod

Penrod - Henry Lauden Davis, 59, formerly of Beech Creek, died at his home near Penrod Tuesday, July 30 at 11:45 p.m. following a lingering illness. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Melvin Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Davis; three daughters, Mrs. Margery Ribber of Dayton, Ohio, Miss Dorothy Nell Davis of Penrod, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Rowland of New Carlisle, Ohio; five sons, Bobby Neal Davis of New Carlisle, Ohio, Kenneth Wayne and Carl Truman Davis of Dayton, Ohio, Charles Edward Davis of East Alton, Ill., Jack Davis of Elkton; three brothers, Howard Davis of Greenville, Hershel Davis of Beech Creek, Elmer Davis of Drakesboro Route 1; eight grandchildren.

Davis, Virgle

Cleaton, Ky. - Mrs. Virgle Davis, 75, of Cleaton died Friday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. She was a native of Cleaton and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Kirby Davis; a son, James Davis, and a daughter, Andrea Phelps, both of Cleaton; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Alberta Frenzel of Louisville.

Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville, is in charge of arrangements.

Day, Charles Douglas

Man's Body Recovered From River
Greenville - Charles Douglas Day, 25, accidentally drowned on the waterfront at Evansville, Ind., at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. His body was recovered from the Ohio River at 2:35 p.m. Monday.

He was employed as a deckhand with the Crounce Corp., a coal barge line.

Officials said Day fell overboard while attempting to tie barges together when they began separating after striking a sand bar.

He was born on February 22, 1943, in Jefferson County and lived most of his life at Beech Creek.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sylvia Kay Gay, of Beech Creek; one daughter, Susan, and one son, Jeffrey, both at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Day of Beech Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Woodley and Mrs. Bessie Hardison, both of Belton, and Mrs. Claudia Francis of Princeton; four brothers, James Clark Day of Owensboro, Jesse Max Day of Hammond, Ind., Richard Day of Chicago, Ill., and Thomas Day of Beech Creek; one grandmother, Mrs. C. T. McPherson of Greenville.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Leigh Chapel General Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. William Mallory, and assisted by the Rev. Roy Francis. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery.

Friends may call at Gary's Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today.
