Greenville - Leyo F. Dockins, 91, formerly of Greenville, died Monday at Mt. View Nursing Home near St. Louis, Mo. Born in Kentucky, he was a retried railroad engineer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katie Irene Dockins, Hillsboro, Mo., and a nephew.
Services 10 a.m. Thursday at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Wayne Rice officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.
Bremen Man Buried Friday
Funeral Services for Edgar A. Donovan Held Last Friday at Shaver's Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock last Friday afternoon for Edgar A. Donovan, 40, of Bremen, at the Shaver's Chapel Methodist church.
The Bremen man was found dead Tuesday morning, December 25, beside the grave of his wife in Shaver's Chapel Cemetery, where he went alone on the evening before.
The body of Donovan was removed to the Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, where it was prepared for burial. It was later taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Florence Gish of Bremen, where it remained until the hour of the services.
The services were conducted by the Rev. S.A. Kittinger of Bremen. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Children surviving are: Edgar A. Jr., Charles Ray, Alene, Ann and Gay Nell.
Other sisters surviving are Mrs. Cordie Coffman of Texas and Mrs. Lillian Wright of Bowling Green; four brothers, Hugh Donovan, Owensboro; C.C. Donovan, Central City; Ecklas Donovan, Bremen, and Dewey Donovan of Louisville.
Death claims Bremen woman
Mrs. Elizabeth Donovan is laid to rest Sunday at Shaver's Chapel Cemetery.
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Donovan, 75, widow of Charles Donovan, who died at 11 o'clock Friday morning at her home in Bremen, were held at the Shaver's Chapel Methodist church, of which she was a member, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with the pastor, the Rev. Ishmale Phillips in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Donovan was born March 31, 1863, in Muhlenberg county, and had lived in the Bremen community all of her life, the daughter of Isaac Gish and Anna Gish. She professed faith in Christ in early childhood and lived a consistant Christian life. She was one of the community's most beloved women, retaining the love and frienship of all whom she came in contact.
Surviving are the following children: Mrs. W.M. Wright of Bowling Green, Mrs. E.D. Gish of Central City, Mrs. Cordia Coffman of Owensboro, Dewey Donovan of Louisville, C.C. Donovan of Central City, Edgar A. Donovan of Bremen, Hugh Donovan of Bremen, and Eclas Donovan of Bremen; 20 grandchildren, Junior, Charley Alline, Gaynell, Ann, Woodrow, Annadean, Melvin, Ruby Nell, Billie Joe, and Robert Donovan; Evert and Irvin Gish; Estel, Dencel, Ronald, Bernice, Virginia and Charlie Opal Wright; Wilda May Coffman. Six great-grandchildren, Francis Marion, Virginia, J.T., and Dorothy Jean Gish; Weeda Fae Wright and Martine Wright.
Bremen - Woodrow Marvin Donovan, 76, of Bremen, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 1989, at his home. He was born in Muhlenberg County, was a self-employed painter and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church at Bremen.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Donovan; three sons, Marvin Donovan of Greenville, John Donovan of Florida and Michael Donovan of Central City; one daughter, Joann Foust of Las Cruces, NM; six grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Dean Sloan of Florida.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City.
Burial in Shavers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Central City teen dies in 1-car crash
Central City, Ky. - Chuck Harold Doss, 18, of Route 2 Central City, was killed in a one-car accident early Saturday morning on Ky. 62 about six miles eat of here.
Kentucky State Police said Doss' westbound car ran off the road and overturned on a guardraill. The victim was pronouned dead at the scene about 1:40 a.m.
Muhlenberg County Coroner Charles Nelson said the accident happened about 12:20 a.m. A passenger in the Doss car, Darrel Wayne Fulkerson, 18, of Route 2 Central City, suffered minor injuries, but wasn't hospitalized, Nelson said.
Born in Muhlenberg County, Doss is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doss and was a junior at Central City High School.
Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Sandra Green, Mrs. Peggy McGhee and Mrs. Connis King, all of Centrla City; a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Madoline Rhule of Central City, and a paternal grandmother, Mrs. Montie Doss of Nashville, Tenn.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today [Sunday] at the Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with the Rev. James Vincent officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mary Doss Buried At Cleaton
Mrs. Mary Bell Doss, 64, wife of Eck Doss, died at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital at 2 p.m. Wednesday. She was born in Cleaton and had lived there all her life. She was a member of the Cleaton Baptist Church.
Survivors: husband, one son, Charles Doss of Cleaton; one daughter, Mrs. Nannie Mae Bryant of Springfield, Ill.; four brothers, Dave and Joe Bob Adcock of Central City, John Ray and Buss Adcock of Cleaton; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Doss, Mrs. Pearl Tooley, and Mrs. Magg Tatum, all of Cleaton; eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at the Cleaton Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Young, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Mary Doss, 77, Dies April 7
Graham - Mrs. Mary Ethel Doss, 77, died at her home in Graham Wednesday, April 7 at 2:15 a.m.
Born in Muhlenberg County May 13, 1893, she was a member of the Little Bethel General Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mary Perry of Evansville, Mrs. Macie Bunker of Decatur, Ill., Mrs. Marie Scott of Graham and Mrs. Ruth Pentecost of Evansville; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; step-brother, Owen Crist of Central City.
Funeral services were Thursday at 2 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Ora DeArmond in charge. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Moody T. Doss, 78, To Be Buried Today
Moody T. Doss, 78, died on Tuesday at 12:55 p.m. at his home in Central City.
He was born in Muhlenberg County on Feb. 8, 1888. He was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church and a retired coal miner.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Doss; son, Roland Doss of Evansville; four daughters, Mrs. Macie Douglas, Mrs. Ruth Pentecost and Mrs. Mary Perry of Evansville and Mrs. Marie Scott of Central City; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Services will be today (Thursday) at 3 p.m., the Rev. Ora DeArmond in charge. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Joe Downey dies at home in Bremen
Funeral services held at Bremen Presbyterian Church; burial at Shaver's Chapel.
Funeral services for Joe Downey, who died at his home in Bremen about 1 o'clock Monday monring, were conducted by the Rev. Ishmael Phillips and the Rev. Andrew Kittinger. Burial was at the Shaver's Chapel Methodist church.
Mr. Downey became ill Sunday, coming to Central City for treatment. He talked with friends and acquaintances Saturday while in Bremen. His sudden death came as a shock to the entire community.
Mr. Downey is survived by the following: his wife, Mrs. Golda Downey; three sons, H.C. Downey, Charles Downey, Murray Jerome Downey, Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Vincent, Mrs. Ella Vincent, Bremen; two brothers, Cleo Downey, Central City, and George Downey; one half-sister, Mrs. Hallie Vincent, Detroit; a half-brother, H.H. Downey, Louisville.
Active pallbearers were: Halbert Shaver, Elbert Rhoades, John Nichols, Floyd Vincent, all of Bremen, and Kenneth Jones and Lilburn Nofsinger, both of Greenville.
William (Cap) Downey buried at Madisonville
Funeral services for William (Cap) Downey, 56 years old, were held at Madisonville on Thursday, January 19. Mr. Downey died on Tuesday, January 17, at his home at Madisonville.
Mr. Downey formerly resided at Graham, moving to Madisonville to make his home about 20 years ago. A brother, Henry Downey, resides at Graham.
Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Gaddis, this city, attended the funeral, Mr. Downey being a brother-in-law of Mr. Gaddis.
