Goldsworthy, William T.

W.T. Goldsworthy, 91, Buried Monday

William T. Goldsworthy, 91, died at 4 p.m. Saturday at a Hopkinsville hospital.

He was born in Alabama on Aug. 23, 1873, the son of James and Eliza Jane Goldsworthy, natives of England.

He had been a coal miner about 50 years and had lived in Central City about 60 years.

Surviving are one niece, Mrs. Mary Goldsworthy Bryan of Paducah, and a nephew, Carl Goldsworthy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three cousins, Mrs. Ruby Besheares of Evansville, Mrs. Anna Bryant and Mrs. Eunice Davis of Madisonville.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Central City conducted by the Rev. Eugene Thompson. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery.

Gossett, Anna Mae

Central City - Anna Mae Gossett, 80, of Grand Rivers died Sunday, Jan. 28, 1996, at her home. She was born in Muhlenberg County, was a homemaker and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Central City.

Survivors include her husband, Columbus Gossett; three sons, Rodney Gossett of Warrenton, Mo., Percie Gossett of Flint, Mich., and Dan Gossett of Kuttawa; three daughters, Jimmie Dee Wilcox of Bremen, Jane Gossett of Grand Rivers and Ann Mefford of Bowling Green; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gossett, Brenda Joyce

Central City - Brenda Joyce Gossett, 54, of Central City died Saturday, April 19, 1997, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. She was born in Muhlenberg County, was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Gossett of Utica; three grandchildren; her mother, Fannie Griffith of Central City; and six sisters, Margaret Level, Daisy Smith, Carolyn Slack and Wanda Watson, all of Central City, Patty Pointer of Cedar Lake, Ind., and Fredia Crick of Greenville.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gossett, Eddie Mae

Graham - Eddie Mae Gossett, 95, of Graham, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 1990, at Maple Manor Health Care Center, Greenville. She was born in Hopkins County and was a member of the Baptist Church. A daughter, Maybelle Tapp, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Stewart Underwood of Graham and Luther Mercer Jr. of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Gaddis of Sacramento.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City.

Burial in Unity Cemetery, Graham. Visitation after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Gossett, Edward J.

Powderly - Edward J. “Ebbie” Gossett, 70, of Powderly died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 1994, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was born in Muhlenberg County; was a 1942 graduate of Graham High School; retired as a shipping clerk for General Motors Corp. in Flint, Mich.; and was a member of Corley Chapel General Baptist Church near Graham and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a brother, William D. Gossett of Central City; a sister, Mrs. Mayne Nell Noffsinger of Powderly; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial in Corley Chapel Cemetery near Graham. Visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gossett, Ernest C.

Central City - Ernest C. Gossett, 77, retired miner, died Thursday in Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a brief illness. He was a charter member of the New Cypress Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nevelene Edwards of Central City and Mrs. Dorcas Pleasant of Chicago; three sons, Bill Gossett of Central City, Everett Gossett of Greenville and Herbert Gossett of Chicago; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Browning of Bremen.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the New Cypress Baptist Church with the Rev. J. C. Gunn, pastor, officiating, with the Rev. Fred Fox assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Gary Funeral Home, Greenville.

Gossett, Eunice Audrey

Bremen - Eunice Audrey Gossett, 84, of Bremen, died Saturday, March 10, 1990, at her home. She was born in Muhlenberg County and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greenville.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Milton Gossett of Bremen, Curtis Gossett of St. Louis, Mo., Joe Gossett of Granite City, Ill., and Bobby Gossett of Bridgeton, Mo.; three daughters, Mae Dean Ashton of Salt Lake City, Utah, June Warren of Nashville, Tenn., and Elaine Chester of Tallahassee, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Eclos Noffsinger of Paducah; and a sister, Flossie Nebeker of Murtaugh, Idaho.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City.

Burial in Shavers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation after 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gossett, Helen Faith

Greenville - Helen Faith Gossett, 86, of Greenville, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville. She was born in Muhlenberg County, retired as a secretary and bookkeeper from Western Kentucky Gas Co. after 35 years and was a Kentucky Colonel. She was a member of Graham Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star No. 96 in Bremen and Rebeccah Lodge in Bremen. Her husband, Ted Gossett, died in 1990.

Survivors include a son, Fred Gossett of Madisonville; three daughters, Jackie Smith of Tiline, and Joyce Devine and Teddie McClain, both of Central City; 10 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 12 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Corley Chapel Cemetery in Graham. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gossett, Mayme Evelyn

Gossett, Mayme Evelyn, 88, of Route 3, Box 43A, Fairland, Ind., died Friday at Heritage Manor in Shelbyville, Ind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Thomas Gossett. Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial in Shavers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mayme Evelyn Gossett, 88, of Route 3, Box 43A, Fairland, Ind., died Friday, June 24, 1994, at Heritage Manor in Shelbyville, Ind. She was born in Sacramento and had been a teacher. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Order of the Eastern Star (Bremen Chapter). She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Thomas Gossett.

Survivors include one daughter, Jamie Scott of Fairland; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial in Shavers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gossett, Peter

Killed While Hunting.

Madisonville, Ky., Aug. 31 - Peter Gossett, aged sixteen years, of the Graham neighborhood, in Muhlenberg county, was accidentally killed while out hunting. His body remained in the woods for two days and nights before it was found.

Gossett, Ray

Greenville - Ray Gossett, 79, of the Rosewood community died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He was born in Muhlenberg County, was a member of the Rosewood United Methodist Church and was self-employed as a produce retailer and distributor.

Survivors include his wife, Lenora Gossett; a son, Alan Ray Gossett of Kemmerer, Wyo.; three daughters, Shelby Jean Garrett of Hopkinsville, Faye Ellen Hankla of Perryville and Vivian Lee Jarvis of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Eva Sweeney and Imogene Moore, both of Greenville, and Dorothy Reeves of Central City.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Rosewood United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Gossett, Roy E.

Madisonville - Roy E. Gossett, 70, of 627 Pride Ave., Madisonville, died Friday, July 27, 1990, at the Regional Medical Center, Madisonville. He was born in Muhlenberg County, was a retired coal miner, a veteran of World War II, and was a member and deacon of Liberty Baptist Church in Madisonville.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Gossett; two daughters, Carolyn Adler of Central City and Ellen Bell of Madisonville; three grandchildren; two brothers, Buster Gossett of Greenville and Eugene Gossett of Nashville; three sisters, Lillian Thompson of Greenville, Irene Jones and Louise Rolley, both of Owensboro.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. today at Gary-s Funeral Home, Greenville.

Burial in East Union Cemetery in Graham. Visitation after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Gossett, Ted

Graham - Ted Gossett, 85, of Route 1, Graham, died Saturday, June 9, 1990, at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He was born in Muhlenberg County; was a coal miner employed for 47 years at the W.G. Duncan Coal Co. before retiring; and was a member of Black Diamond Masonic Lodge No. 785 F&AM in Graham, the Bremen Order of the Eastern Star and Graham United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Gossett; a son, Fred Gossett of Madisonville; three daughters, Mrs. Jackie Smith of Smithland, Mrs. Joyce Devine and Mrs. Teddie McClain, both of Central City ; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial in Corley Chapel Cemetery, Route 1, Graham. Visitation after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Masonic rites will be conferred at 7:30 p.m. today by Black Diamond Masonic Lodge.
