Hibbs, Isaac L.

Isaac L. Hibbs, 76, Dies March 25

Isaac L. (Ike) Hibbs, 76, of Central City, died at Muhlenberg Community Hospital Tuesday, March 25 at 2:50 a.m.

Born in Webster County April 1, 1898, he was a member of Green River Chapel General Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Hibbs of Central City; two daughters, Mrs. John Bill McRoy of Central City and Mrs. Walter Williams of Greenville Route 3; son, William Hibbs of Central City Route 1; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Louise Redfern of Central City; half-brother, Euell Hibbs of Tell City, Ind.; half-sister, Mrs. Ida Belle Graham of Madisonville.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. William Bullock and the Rev. John H. Culbertson in charge. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.

Hickey, Dollie

Central City - Mrs. Dollie Hickey, 99, of 215 Reynolds Street, Central City, died Tuesday, February 14, 1989 at 7:15 a.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

Mrs. Hickey was born in Muhlenberg County on June 15, 1891. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include one brother, Charles B. Greenwood, Sr., of Central City; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Father Tony Bickett officiating. Burial was in the Fairmount Cemetery.

Hicks, Lucy Ann

Beaver Dam, Ky. - Lucy Ann Hicks, 86, of Route 1, Beaver Dam, died Sunday at Professional Care Home, Hartford. She was born in Tennessee and was a member of Rockport Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Harold C. Hicks of Louisville; two daughters, Mrs. Phillip Hill of Beaver Dam and Helen Staples of Petersburg, Mich.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John Cabbage of Talihina, Okla.; and a sister, Bertha Stone of Troutdale, Ore.

Services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Central City. Visitation after 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Highers, John B.

John B. Highers, former Smith countian, dead

While at work in a mine at Cleaton, near Central City, Ky., Mr. John B. Highers sustained a broken leg and arm from a falling slate on the 5th day of March. The physicians amputated his leg, and the shock was so great that death resulted the following day. Mr. Highers was born and reared in Smith county and his many friends, relatives and acquaintances will be grieved to learn of his untimely death. He was 57 years old, and a well respected citizen. He leaves a number of children, all of whom are grown except one, and he has one son serving with the U.S. army in France.

Upon receipt of the news of the accident, his brothers, S.C. and B.S. Highers of Dixon Springs and Henry Highers of Rome, and his nephews, Banks, Jr., and James Highers, of Dixon Springs, hurried to his bedside, and some of them arrived in time to see him alive.

Hightower, Ellen

Greenville, Ky. - Mrs. Ellen Hightower, 72, of Greenville died Tuesday at Hopkins County Hospital. She was born in Hopkins County and was a trustee, deaconess and member of the board of stewards at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church.

Survivors include a son, L. W. Harbin Jr. of Chicago; two daughters, Margaret Dulin of Louisville and Minnie Reed of Greenville; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Emmitt Weir of Chicago and Wallace Weir of Greenville.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial in West End Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville.

Hightower, Evie

Powderly - Mrs. Evie Hightower died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville, after suffering a stroke.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Pansy Mitchell, Mrs. Delphinior Hocker, both of Powderly, Mrs. Alice Mitchell, Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Lottie Parks, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Dorothy H. Bibbs, Greenville; two sons, Joe Hightower, Central City, and John Hightower Jr., Indianapolis, 35 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesdady at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. M. A. Dykes officiating. Burial will be in the Powderly Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville, after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Hill, Annie

Mrs. Annie Hill, 78, Is Buried April 15

Mrs. Annie Hill, 78, died on Thursday, April 14, at 2:30 a.m. at her home on Greenville Route 3.

She was born in Muhlenberg County on Dec. 25, 1888, and was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Aubrey Hill of Greenville Route 3; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Cary, Mrs. Pinkie Hammonds and Mrs. Lillie Wells, all of Greenville; two brothers, Walter Cook of Greenville Route 3 and Arthur Cook of Hammond, Ind.

Services were held Friday, April 15, at 3 p.m. at Lone Star Baptist Church, the Rev. William Bullock officiating, assisted by the Rev. Woodburn Green. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Hill, Lucian

World War Veteran found strangled in Greenville Jail

Central City, Nov. 30. - Lucian Hill, 38, World war veteran, of near Paradise, Ky., was found strangled to death, hanging by his belt attached to the bars in his cell at Greenville jail at 10 a.m., today. Hill, who was shell shocked when he served during the war, was said to have become mentally unbalanced and had been removed to the jail at Greenville Saturday, for safekeeping pending his removal to a sanitarium.

Hill lived alone hear Paradise and has no near surviving relatives. Funeral services will be held at his home Tuesday. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery.

Hines, Alice

Mrs. Alice Hines, 84, Buried Saturday

Mrs. Alice Hines, 84, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

She was a member of Browder Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one brother, Johnny Reed of Greenville; four foster children, Mrs. Myrtle Walden of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Franklin Dulin of Greenville, Charles William Fellows of Louisville and James Fellows of Flint, Mich.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Browder Chapel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. W. C. Grace. Burial was in Browder Cemetery.

Hines, Aubrey

Drakesboro - Aubrey Hines, 71, died at 1 a.m. Friday at his home after suffereing an apparent heart attack. He was born June 10, 1893, in Butler county, and had lived in Drakesboro since 1941.

Hines was a World War I veteran and a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances Hines; two sons, Fred Hines of Drakesboro, and William Hines of Youngstown, Ohio; two brothers, Robert and Guvey Hines, both of Louisville.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Church conducted by the Rev. M. C. Jones, pastor, with burial in Browder Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at Bibbs' Funeral Home, Greenville, at 12 noon Monday.

Hinson, Willie Jarrie Jr.

Central City - Willie Jarrie Hinson Jr., 51, of Route 2, Central City, was dead on arrival Sunday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. born in Franklin, Tenn., he was a carpenter and a member of Nelson Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Louise Hinson; three sons, Terry, Ronnie and Dana Hinson, all of Central Ctiy; a daughter, Mrs. Gayle Balls, Central City; his mother, Mrs. Willie Mae Hinson, Central City; three grandchildren, and a foster sister, Mrs. Mildred Goodwin, Franklin.

Services 10 a.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with the Rev. Roy Geary, assisted by the Rev. Robert Grass, officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Hinson, Willie Jarvil Sr.

Central City - Willie Jarvil Hinson Sr., 60, of Hanson, Route 1, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Hopkins County Hospital at Madisonville. A farmer and carpenter, he was born in Williamson County, Tenn., Aug. 19, 1906, and was a member of the Slaughters Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Willie Mae Hinson; a son, Willie J. Hinson Jr., of Route 2, Central City; two daughters, Mrs. Douglas Goodwin, of Franklin, Tenn., and Mrs. Leon Thomson, of Central City; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, R.E. Hinson, of Reno, Nev., and T.J. Hinson of Gallatin, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Mae Hinson, of Franklin, and Mrs. A.B. Hulan, of Gallatin.

The Rev. William Agnew of the Slaughters Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Roy Geary, will conduct funeral services Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Tucker funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday.

Hite, Walter

Walter Hite, 66, died last Saturday in the hospital here. Funeral services were conducted at the Graham Baptist church at 1 p.m. Monday. Burial was in the Corley's Chapel cemetery. He is survived by his wife.
