Nalley, James

James Nalley, 92, Is Buried Today

James Nalley, 92-year-old Central City retired coal miner, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 in Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a long illness.

He was born in McLean County Feb. 28, 1876 and was a member of the Central City First Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World.He was married 68 years before his wife died last year. They lived on Morehead Street.

Survivors include a son, Joe Nalley of Greenville; four daughters, Mrs. Lucy Baxter and Mrs. Gladys Morris of Central City, Mrs. Nell Jernigan of Chicago and Mrs. Ethel Hunter of Owensboro; sister, Mrs. Betty Tipton of Evansville; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. in Central City with the Rev. W. R. Cook officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery with grandsons as pallbearers.

Nevels, Floyd

Greenville - Floyd Nevels, Negro, died at the Muhlenberg county community hospital July 11, 1956. Funeral services were held at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church July 14. The Rev. J.H. Dunlap delivered the eulogy, assisted by the Rev. M.A. Dykes, pastor, Ebenezer Baptist church, Depoy.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Artie B. Nevels; three sisters, Mrs. Willie Robinson, Cleveland, OH, Mrs. Marie Lusk, Nashville, TN, Mrs. Kenny Street, Elyria OH; brother, George M. of Columbus, OH; uncle, Anthony (Uncle Babe) Nevels, of Manchester, TN.

Newman, Annie Elizabeth

Mrs. Annie E. Newman, 74, Dies Tuesday Morning

Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Newman, 74, died at her home Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. Funeral service was held Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Church at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Fox officiating, assisted by the Rev. Alvis Lee. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Guy Lovell, Frank Jackson, Gordon Lucas, Ora Bandy, Edwin Jenkins and Eura Horn.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis G. Newman; three daughters, Mrs. John Corley, R3, Greenville, Mrs. Melvin Shutt, Evansville, and Mrs. Paul Stodghill, Earlington; seven sons, T.R. Newman, Austin Newman, Greenville, Orvil Newman of Beech Creek, Moody Newman, R1, Drakesboro; Hoyt Newman, R2, Greenville, L.D. Newman, R3, Greenville; J.O. Newman, Louisville; 24 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one half-brother, Edward O'Neal of Herrin, IL.

Mack Newman's Sister Dies

Greenville - Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Newman of Paducah, Mrs. Naomi Moore and daughter Barbara of Flint, Mich. came for the funeral and burial of Miss Eva Newman, who died at her home in Paducah. She was brought back to Lewisburg. They all came to Greenville to visit Mrs. Mack Newman. Miss Eva Newman was the sister of the late Mack Newman, former editor and publisher of the Greenville Leader.
