Calvin (Callie) Turner Mallory, 69, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thelma Knight, Bellville, Mich., Thursday, Nov. 5.
He was foreman of a section crew of the L&N Railroad for 39 years and a member of the Hazel Creek Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services were held at the grave site at 2 p.m. in Union Ridge Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted by Hazel Creek Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Esta Mallory; three sons, M.N. Mallory of Dahlgren, Ill., Ervin Mallory of Orangeburg, SC, and Cecil Turner Mallory with the US Forces in England; four daughters, Mrs. Esta Stiff and Mrs. Thelma Knight, both of Bellville, Mich., Mrs. Catherine Potrick of Hammond, Miss., and Mrs. Roberta Gibbs of Lewisburg; four brothers, Ha [unreadable] Mallory, Elias Mallory, Herschel Mallory, all of Route 1, Belton, and Casey Mallory of Route , Dunmor; two sisters, Thena Blake and Mrs. Minnie McElwain of Belton; 25 grandchildren.
Ex-Resident Killed In Chicago June 2
Estil Clay Mansfield, 22, formerly of Central City, was killed in Chicago at 11:05 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dovey.
A veteran of two year's service in the Army, he was a truck driver in Chicago. He was born in Greenville March 3, 1927.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. Guy Mansfield of Dayton, Ohio and Mrs. Lucy Kaniski of Chicago; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivory Millsaps of Central City.
Central City - Delores Mansfield, 80, of Central City, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 1984, at Regional Medical Center, Madisonville. She was born in Kentucky and lived at Senior Citizens Nursing Home, Madisonville, for the last severral years. She was a member of St. James AME Zion Church, Central City, and Magnolia Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 84, Greenville.
She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial in West End Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mattie Mansfield, 79 years old, died at her home near Weir last Sunday night, following a protracted illness from old age complications. Burial was at Clifty Monday afternoon.
Bremen - Deborah Faye Markwell, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ode Markwell of Central City, died at 6 a.m. Sunday in University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
The infant was born April 11 in Muhlenberg County. Other survivors include two brothers, James Ode Markwell and Roger Dale Markwell, both of the home; two sisters, Sheila Ann Markwell and Shirley Jean Markwell, both at home; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Olivia Snodgrass of South Carrollton; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Pauline Hughes of Central City.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today with burial in Gish Cemetery at Bremen, conducted by the Rev. Roy Geary.
A two-weeks' old girl of E.N. Martin, colored, died Monday afternoon, and was buried Tuesday in the West End Cemetery. The mother has been in serious condition, but is now in an improving condition.
Greenville - Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Barbara Martin, 71, who died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of her sister in Clarksville.
She was a resident of Greenville and a member of AME Zion Church of Greenville.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lena Johnson and Mrs. Clara Merritt, both of Clarksville, Mrs. Molly Baker of Greenville; two brothers, McNary Boyd of Central City, and Jody Boyd of Switchback, W. Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Alverna Bard officiating. Burial will be in West End Cemetery.

Aunt Hester Martin, colored, died of a complication of diseases incident to old age at the home of Lee Shanklin, near the depot, Sunday night, and was buried in the West End Cemetery Monday afternoon.
Martin - At his home, in Muhlenberg county, Ky., June 6, J.M.D. Martin, Deacon of the Mt. Pleasant church, at the age of 70, leaving a bright evidence of his well-grounded hope in the Saviour.
He was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church for many years, and he lived to see his six sons and one daughter unite with the church of his choice. Just as the sun sank in the West this faithful servant of God breathed his last. His end was peace.

Central City - Mrs. Nettie Reba Martin, 59, of Central City, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Owensboro - Daviess County Hospital.
Mrs. Martin was born Oct. 10, 1909 in Ohio County. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church at Centertown.
Survivors include one son, Freddie Brown of Hilton; one stepson, Lindell Martin of Owensboro; her mother, Mrs. Stella Moore, South Carrollton, one brother, Wilson Brown of South Carrollton; two sisters, Mrs. Mrs. Kay Duvall and Mrs. Wilma Jean Stevens, both of South Carrollton; two grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Greenville Councilman Martin, 49, succumbs
Greenville, Ky. - City Councilman Paul O. Martin Sr., 49, of Greenville, died yesterday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
A longtime member of the board of trustees of Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church, Martin also was church treasurer.
The Korean War veteran was elected to the council last November and was a former board member of the City Housing Commission.
Born Oct. 20, 1925, the Greenville native was the son of Elmer and Eliza Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy D. Martin; a son, Paul O. Martin Jr., and two sisters, Miss Margaret Ruth Martin, Greenville, and Mrs. Isabelle Woodard, Owensboro.
The body is at Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville.

Greenville - Rufus Martin, 93, of Greenville died Sunday at Poplar Grove Rest Home, Greenville. He was a retired employe of the Louisville sanitation department.

Central City - Roy Martindale, 86, died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He had suffered a stroke Tuesday.
He is survived by one daughter, Dianne Martindale of Owensboro; and one son, Roy Martindale, Jr., of Louisville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Alverna Bard, pastor of Gough Tabernacle in Earlington, officiating. Burial will be in Powderly Cemetery.

Central City - Creel Mason, 80, of Central City, died Sunday, March 16, 1986, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. He was born in Muhlenberg County, was a retired engineer for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad Co., and was a member of Central City Masonic Lodge No. 673 F&AM.
He is survived by nieces.

Estil Mathis Worried After His Team Had Been Struck By Truck; Shoots Himself In Head
Funeral services for Estil Mathis, 40 years old, who died at his home at Greenville at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning from a self-inflicted pistol wound were held today.
Mr. Mathis shot himself through the head at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at his home. He lived 30 minutes after he shot himself it was stated. The coroner's jury returned a verdict of suicide.
Last Saturday night, as Mr. Mathis was returning to his home with a team and wagon, one of his horses was struck by a truck and so badly injured it that it had to be killed. It was said that the incident weighed heavily upon his mind and that he had talked considerably about it.
Surviving Mr. Mathis are the widow and two sons and one daughter.

Greenville, Ky., May 27 - Funeral services were held at the Wesley Chapel AME Church on Sunday afternoon for Hume Harlan Mathis, 82, who died at Nashville, Tenn., May 22. The Rev. E. Horace Brown, pastor of the Wesley Chapel Church, officiated.
He taught in the public schools at Greenville and Drakesboro and other sections of Muhlenberg County for a number of years. He also worked as a barber for nearly 50 years. He operated a barbershop in Greenville until his retirement in 1947.
The survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Eleanor Fields, instructor in the John G. Fee High School at Maysville, Ky.; and Mrs. Princess M. Faulkner, teacher in the Cameron Junior High School, Nashville, Tenn.; two sons-in-law,, Carlton Fields, Maysville, and Dr. W. M. Faulkner, Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Effie M. Robinson, Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment was in the family plot in the West End Cemetery at Greenville with the Smith Funeral Home in charge.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Ellen Mathis, negro, in her 87th year, who died at the home of her son, H. H. Mathis, in East Campbell street, at 7 o'clock Monday monring, were held at the home at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and interment was in West End cemetery. The aged woman was one of the oldest inhabitants of Muhlenberg county. She died suddenly from an attack of acute indigestion, it was state.
Passes Away at the Home of His Son.
Mr. Aaron Matthews, one of the oldest men of this county, died at the home of his son, Mr. Heber Matthews, in Hartford yesterday morning at seven o'clock, after a lingering illness of several weeks.
He was born in Muhlenberg county near South Carrollton June 8, 1816, and moved with his parents to Warrick county, Ind., when four years of age. He was the father of ten children, six by his first wife and four by his second, who is now living. Two of his first wife's children are now living, and one of his second wife, Mr. Heber Matthews, foreman of the Hartford Herald.
Funeral services, were conducted from the family residence yesterday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. G. J. Bean, after which the remains were taken to Mt. Gilead Cemetery, near Boonville, Ind., and laid by the side of his first wife.
Greenville, Ky. - Arthur H. Maxberry, 76, of 218 N. Main St., Greenville, died Friday at his home. He was born in Logan County and was a retired coal miner and a deacon for Union Ridge Baptist Church, Route 3, Elkton.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Maxberry; a son, J. O. Maxberry of Belton; two daughters, Ruth Pogue of Beechmont and Marlene Crowder of Elizabethtown; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a brother, Ronnie Maxberry of Evansville.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Union Ridge Baptist Church. Burial in the church cemetery. Visitation at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville.

Belton - Mrs. Beulah Lee Maxberry, 57, died at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville, at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.
She was born in McLean County, and was a member of the Union Ridge General Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Ruth Pogue, Browder; Mrs. Marlene Staples of Pleasure Ridge Park, Ky.; one son, J. O. Maxberry, Beaver Dam; nine grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Minnie Lee Revelett, Louisville; two sisters, Mrs. Nell Oller, Beechmont; Mrs. Birdie Fleming, Pleasure Ridge Park; four brothers, Eck Revelett, Barberton, Ohio; Walter, Browder; Harry, Louisville; Clarence, Hardinsburg.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Union Ridge General Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Herman Capshaw of Providence, assisted by the Rev. Woodburn Green of Belton, with burial in the church cemetery.

Greenville - Nora Anderson Maxberry, 86, of Greenville died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville. She was born in Muhlenberg County and was a member of Roland Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Slaton Anderson; her second husbnad, Arthur Maxberry; and a stepson, James O. Maxberry.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Ruth Pogue of Beechmont and Marlene Crowder of Sharon Grove; 12 stepgrandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Martha Cobb of Los Alamos, NM, Edna Shamblin of Arab, Ala., Anna McDonald and Ruth McDonald, both of Greenville; a brother, Otis Allen of Greenville; and several nephews and nieces.

Greenville - Clifford Mayes, 60, miner, of Route 2, Greenville, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Hopkins County Hospital at Madisonville.
He was born June 18, 1910, in Muhlenberg County.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Mae Mayes; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Piper, Monterrey, Ind., and Mrs. Dorothy Brooks, Route 2, Greenville; a son, James Earl Mayes of Route 1, Bremen; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Leanor Powell of Cleaton; three half-sisters, Mrs. Marian Bell, Mrs. Pirtle Thelps of Indiana, and Mrs. Thomas Mayes of Chicago, Ill.; four half-brothers, Rollie Lee Mayes of Teasman, Ind., Winfred Mayes of Cleaton, Owen Ray Mayes of Frankfort, and Bobby Earl Mayes of Georgia.

Hopkinsville - Sylvia Rickard Mayes, 80, of Hopkinsville died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1993, at her home. She was born in Muhlenberg County, lived in Hopkinsville for 36 years and was a member of Greenbriar Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roscoe Mayes; a son, Bobby Rickard of Crofton; a daughter, Regina Strader of Clifty; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Russell and Nell Kennedy, both of Greenville.
