Mullen, Henry

Drakesboro man killed in mine by falling slate
Henry Mullen pinned under slate Tuesday morning at Drakesboro

Henry Mullen, 42 years old, was crushed to death Tuesday morning while at work in Mine No. 2 of the Black Diamond Coal Company at Drakesboro, being pinned under slate, estimated to have weighed five tons.

Mullen was a veteran of the World War. He enlisted May 25, 1918, and was discharged April 25, 1919. He was assigned to the Field Artillery while in the service.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon at the Drakesboro Baptist Church. Burial was in the Highway Cemetery with military honors, conducted by American Legion Post No. 61, Central City.

Surviving are his widow, Mayme Mullen, and one son, Carol Lyndel Mullen.

Murch, Raleigh Dewey

Central City - Raleigh Dewey Murch, 67, of Route 1, Bremen, was dead on arrival at Hopkins County Hospital early yesterday. He was born in Piggott, Ark.

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Norman Stewart, Route 1, Bremen.

Services 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Jones, pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, officiating. Burial in Island Baptist Church Cemetery.
