Nicholls, Edgar

Central City, Ky. - Edgar Nicholls, 69, prominent banker and resident of Central City, died at his home there at 9:45 a.m. Monday. He had been ill since October of last year. Mr. Nicholls was president of the Citizens Union Bank of Central City.

Born near South Carrollton, Mr. Nicholls was a son of the late Sallie Moorman and Billy Nicholls, pioneer residents of that section. Early in life he became associated with the Citizens Bank at South Carrollton and was serving as cashier of that bank in 1921 when he assisted in organization of the Citizens Union bank, of which he was named president when it was organized.

Mr. Nicholls was active in church and civic affairs. He was a deacon of the Central City Baptist church; chairman of the church finance committee and teacher of the men's Bible class. He was also chairman of the local draft board; and chairman of the Central City water commission.

Mr. Nicholls is survived by the widow, who was, before their marriage in 1897, Miss Lee Kittinger.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon in the Central City Baptist church, with the pastor, the Rev. Ray Dean, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

Nicholls, Eula T.

Cape Coral, Fla. - Eula T. Nicholls, 96, of Cape Coral, formerly of Central City, died Friday, July 12, 1996, at Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers, Fla. She was born in McLean County and was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Muhlenberg and McLean school systems. Her husband, Clyde O. Nicholls, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Murphy of Cape Coral and Jo Ann Hutchens of Toms Rivers, NJ; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Nicholls, J.T.

Bremen, Ky. - J.T. Nicholls, 81, prominent resident of the Bremen section, died at his home at 11 p.m. Monday.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Nicholls, two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Lee, one son, John Nicholls, and nine grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Bremen Cumberland Presbyterian church. Burial will be in the South Carrollton cemetery.

Nicholls, Mattie

Bremen - Mrs. Mattie Nicholls, 76, died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday at the Kentucky Rest Havven Convalescent Home in Madisonville.

Born in Muhlenberg County, Jan. 23, 1880, she was a member of the Bremen Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are one son, John W. Nicholls, Bremen; two daughters, Mrs. Guy Arnold, and Mrs. Ray Lee, both of Bremen; four brothers, Cecil Shaver, Central City; Andrew Shaver, Bedford, Ind.; Edgar Shaver and Alex Shaver, both of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church at Bremen conducted by the Rev. Drexel Sankins, assisted by the Rev. S. A. Kittinger. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at South Carrollton.

The body was removed to Bremen at noon Wednesday.
