The man left a note to the proprietor stating that he was out of work and had no money and had been despondent for two weeks following the loss of his position. He attributed his misfortunes to his love for strong drink. The proprietor was asked to deliver two letters found in the room, one to his wife, Mrs. W.A. The note and two letters were on a table in the room. The man shaved just before killing himself. He was neatly dressed and wore a TPA pin, Number 235,305, St. Louis.
