Mrs. Delie Board of Powderly dies
Powderly - Mrs. Delie Board, 94, of Powderly, died Sunday, October 8 at 1:50 p.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mrs. Board was born in Muhlenberg County October 1, 1884.
Survivors include two daughters, Mable Hinton, Powderly, Bessie Oglesby, White Plains; two sons, Hugh Board, Akron, Ohio; Denzil Board, Nigley, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 10 at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Houston Noffsinger officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bob Spears. Burial was in Coleman Cemetery.
J.B. Board, 70, Dies Near Morgan
Morgan - J.B. Board, 70, retired miner, died at his home in the Morgan community at 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. He was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church.
The funeral service was conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Morehead Baptist Church by the Rev. J.B. Matheney, assisted by the Rev. Victor Phelps. Burial was in the Coleman Cemetery.
Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Dee Mitchell Board; three sons, Clarence Board, Chicago; Hoyt and Denzil Board, Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Oglesby, White Plains; Mrs. Mabel Hinton, Powderly; eight grandchildren.
Miss Rethal Board, 26 years old, died of tuberculosis at her home near old Bethel church at noon Monday.
A funeral service, conducted by Gus Stovall, of Greenville, was held at Woodson Baptist church at 4 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, and interment was in the Coleman burying ground. The father, three brothers, and two sisters survive.
Chicago, Ill. - Floyd Thomas Boggess, 62, of Chicago, died there yesterday at Franklin Boulevard Community Hospital. He was born in Muhlenberg County.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maude Boggess; two sons, Jimmy and Fred Boggess, both of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Pryon, Chicago, and Mrs. Doris Sobieck of Indiana; six grandchildren; three brothers, Pete, Lloyd and Fonzo Boggess, all of Greenville, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie McPherson, Greenville.
Services 3 p.m. Monday at Olive Grove Baptist Church. Burial in church cemetery. Friends may call at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville, after 5 p.m. Sunday.
Tuberculosis Victim.
Mrs. T.P. Boggess, an asylum patient from Muhlenberg county, died yesterday morning of tuberculosis, aged 40 years. She was received at the institution about a year ago. Her remains were shipped to Greenville for interment.
Hugh Bohannon, 83, Dies Jan. 6
Greenville - Hugh Bohannon, 83, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 at his residence in Greenville.
Born March 6, 1888 in Muhlenberg County, he was a retired factory representitive for the Burton Manufacturing Co.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Grace Pulley, Mrs. Ruth Sherrod and Mrs. Virginia Hale of Greenville; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday in Greenville with the Rev. A. B. Gross and the Rev. William Jines officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Joseph Haden Bohannon, 52 years old, was found dead in bed at his home on Hopkinsville street here Tuesday morning. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Arthur B. Gross, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, this city, were held at the home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, and burial was in Evergreen cemetery here.
Mr. Bohannon was a son of Dr. J.G. Bohannon, prominent Louisville physician, who died several years ago. He is survived by two brothers, Dr. George Bohannon, of Louisville, and Hugh Bohannon, of Jasper, Ala.; three sisters, Mrs. Gracie Pulley, Mrs. Ruth Sherrod, and Mrs. Virginia Hale, all of Greenville.
Ceaphus Booth, Dies on Nov. 5
Ceaphus Booth, 87, of Central City, died at Jenny Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m.
A retired farmer, he was born in Butler County Oct. 25, 1887.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora Booth of Central City; son, J.C. Booth of Elizabethtown; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Stewart of Central City, Mrs. Myrl Ingram of Lockport, N.Y. and Mrs. Dean Back of Rineyville; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Eldon Booth of Rineyville.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Roy Geary and the Rev. Leroy Vaught in charge. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery in Butler County.
Double Services Set For Saturday For Bremen Couple
Central City, Ky. - Double services for Mrs. Gracie Nell Bowles, 38, and her husband, Benjamin “Bengie” Bowles, 40, of Route 1, Bremen, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Bowles shot and fatally wounded his wife in their home about 11 p.m. Wednesday and later, in an outbuilding to the residence, killed himself by firing a .22 rifle shot through his head.
They are survived by a daughter, Cynthia, 11, and four sons, Gary, 17, Terry, 13, Timmy, 10, and Kavin Wayne, 4.
Mrs. Bowles is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Daisy Jones, Chicago; father, Virgil Jones, Cherry Hill; one brother, Jerry Wayne Jones, Chicago.
He is also survived by his mother Mrs. Ruby Bowles of Greenville; four sisters, Mrs. H.A. Dusendschon, Green Bay, Wis., Mrs. Jack McNabb, Louisville, Mrs. George Peterson, Kokomo, Ind., Mrs. Lendell Peveler, Batania, Ohio; seven brothers, L.S., Wesley T., Clarence, Jack, Harvey, Robert and William all of Muhlenberg County.
