Buchanan, Madie Lee

Drakesboro - Ms. Madie Lee Buchanan, 82, of Drakesboro, died Sunday, September 17, 1995 at 12:25 a.m. at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.

Ms. Buchanan was born in Muhlenberg County on June 28, 1913. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Drakesboro.

Survivors include two sons, Darrel Ray Buchanan of Camden, Tennessee and Rondal Lee Buchanan of Drakesboro; four daughters, Wanda Rives of Louisville, Maryann McDonald of Greenville, Dolores Burden of Evansville, Indiana and Fay Price of Auburn; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles William Maxwell of Lexington, and three sisters, Beulah Negley of Louisville, Mary Elizabeth Wood of Louisville and Carrie Ray of Drakesboro.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 19 at 2 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Lowell Abney officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Buchanan, Virgil

Virgil Buchanan, 76, of Louisville, died at 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in Louisville. He was a native of Beech Creek and a carman at the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Co. for 35 years until retiring in 1965.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Fahringer, Mrs. Sue Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Dorothy Smith of Louisville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Horace Buchanan of Greenville and Homer of Morgantown.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Louisville with burial in Schardein Cemetery.

His brother, Pearly Buchanan, 87, of Drakesboro Route 1, died Jan. 17.

Bumgardner, Mary Louise

Mrs. Bumgardner, 58, Dies Jan. 10

Mrs. Mary Louise Bumgardner, 58, of Central City, died Thursday, Jan. 10 at Hopkins County Hospital.

Born Oct. 5, 1915 in Muhlenberg County, she was a member of Cleaton Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Noah Bumgardner; two sons, Bobby Miller of Browder; mother, Mrs. Martha Ella West of Central City; two brothers, Malcolm West of Berwyn, Ill. and James Kenneth West of Central City; sister, Mrs. Hilda Sharp of Central City; eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with the Rev. Roy Geary, pastor of Cherry Hill Baptist Church, and the Rev. R.D. Mize, pastor of Cleaton Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
