The death angel visited the home of C. B. Bradley last Saturday morning and took from his his precious daughter, Erdine. She leaves to mourn her loss a father, little brother, Dorris, and a host of friends and relatives. She was laid to rest in the Williams burying ground beside her mother. She was a bright, sweet girl of 17 and to know her was to love her. We all regretted to give her up but God knows best.
John Bradley the colored butcher of this place died at his home last Sunday. John was a sober, energetic darky and was well spoken of by white and colored.

Powderly - William Bradley, 78, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Racine, Wis.
A native of Powderly, he had lived in Wisconsin for about 45 years. He is survived by nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bibbs Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Alverna Bard, pastor of Bank Street AME Zion Church. Burial will be in the Powderly Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Brady, 78, mother of Dr. A. P. Hannephin, this city, who died at her home in Owensboro at 10 p.m. last Thursday, was conducted at the Walnut Street Baptist Church at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, the pastor, the Rev. W. S. Coakley, in charge. Burial was in St. Alphonsus cemetery.
Niece of Dr. A. P. Hannephin Dies at Home in Owensboro
Miss Dora Mae Brady, 23, niece of Dr. A. P. Hannephin, this city, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Brady, in Owensboro, at 12:05 p.m., Tuesday, after a lingering illness.
Rev. R. G. Brank Dead.
Rev. Robert G. Brank, D. D., died at his home in St. Louis, Missouri, Wednesday evening, aged 73 years. The deceased was well-known to many of the older citizens, being a distinguished Presbyterian minister. His first charge after entering the ministry was the Harmony church, just over the county line in Woodford, the church organization of which has long since been dissolved and their house of worship is now used by the congregation of the Forks Baptist Church. From this church he was called to take charge of the McChord or Second Presbyterian Church in Lexington, where he remained until 1867, when he accepted the care of the Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis - remaining its pastor up to the time of his death. He was a tall, fine-looking gentleman, an attractive speaker and so universally popular with the congregations of the two churches of which he had charge in this State that he was given up with regret. He was a Kentuckian, having been born and raised in Muhlenberg county, and was an uncle of Judge William H. Yost, late of the Superior Court. The remains were taken to Lexington for interment.
Charles Bransford, 72, Is Buried Here Today
Charles Bransford, 72, of Central City Route 2, died in Muhlenberg Community Hospital Tuesday, March 19, at 6:15 p.m.
A retired miner, he was born in Muhlenberg County July 12, 1895, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Callie Bransford; daughter, Mrs. Melladean Krifft of St. Paul, Minn.; stepson, J.W. Culbertson of Central City Route 1; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; two brothers, Willis Bransford of Central City Route 1 and William Bransford of Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Roach of Central City Route 1 and Mrs. Clara Gentry of Ohio.
Services will be today (Thursday) at 3 p.m. in Central City with the Rev. Floyd Berry, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
J.H. Brashears Taken By Death
Passed Away Friday Afternoon; Funeral Services Held Last Saturday.
Funeral services for Jefferson H. Brashears, 77 yaers old, who passed away at 5:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 22 at the home of his brother-in-law, C. M. Creager, were held Saturday by the Rev. O. P. Bush, pastor of the Central City Baptist Church. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery beside the grave of his loved companion who died May 6, 1937. Mr. Brashears was born November 11, 1860, in McLean County.
Surviving are his two sisters, Mrs. C. M. Creager, Mrs. Bertha Bennett; two brothers, S. H. Brashears and C. Brashears.
Central City - Services for Warner Lee Briggs, 35, of Central City, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. James AME Zion Church, conducted by the Rev. Poindexter, pastor. Burial will be in Sacramento.

Greenville - Norman Dale Brock, 41, Greenville, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
Born in Kosata, Minn., on May 20, 1930, he had lived in Greenville 20 years and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Joyce Brock, Greenville; two sons, Grant and Allen Brock, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Brock, Kosata, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Nita Schemmel of Mankota, Minn., and Mrs. Susie Oneck, San Francisco, Calif.; four brothers, David and Glenn Brock, both of Houston, Tex., Charles Brock, St. Peter, Minn., and Jim Brock of Minneapolis, Minn.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Gary Funeral Home by the Rev. Joe Davis. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City.

Elizabethtown - Chester L. Brooks, 62, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Central City, died Wednesday at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Elizabethtown. Born in Webster County, he was a retired office and credit manager of Firestone Store in Elizabethtown. He was a former co-owner of Firestone Store in Central City and was past master of Central City Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ann Brooks; two sons, Mike Brooks, Central City, and John Brooks, Frankfort; two grandchildren; a brother, Barrett Brooks, Madisonville, and a sister, Lelia Brooks, Madisonville.

Miss Eunice Brooks, 11, Dies July 10
Powderly - Miss Eunice Fay Brooks, 11, died Thursday, July 10, at 2:30 p.m. in Childrens' Hospital in Louisville following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 9, 1957 and was a student at Muhlenberg Central School.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Brooks of Powderly; five sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Lois Rose of Greenville Route 1, Naomi Kay, Ruth Marie, Opal Mae and Barbara Ann, all of Powderly; three brothers, Denford Earl Brooks of Greenville Route 1, Gerald Ray and Jackie Brooks of Powderly; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Isome Sapp of Belton and Mr. Eddie Brooks, Sr. of Central City Route 1.
Services were Sunday, July 13, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lorene Pendley officiating. Burial was in Leigh's Chapel Cemetery.
America Brown Taken By Death
America Brown, 81, died at her home near Powderly on March 21, of complications, incident to advanced age.
She was a member of Old Bethel Church, from where the funeral was held Saturday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Pendley. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Rev. Charlie Brown, 101, minister for 50 years, dies
The Rev. Charlie Brown, 101, of Central City Route 2, died Friday, Feb. 10 at 3:25 p.m. in the Belle Meade Nursing Home.
He was born July 21, 1887 in Muhlenberg County and was a retired miner. He was an ordained minister for 50 years and was the oldest member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Earl Brown of South Carrollton; stepson, Kenneth Conway of Bremen; three daughters, Bernadine Steele and Charlie Avaline Wiggins of Central City, and Marjorie McDonald of Greenville; 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Cope officiating, assisted by the Rev. Everett Wilkins. Burial was in Cherry Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Elizabeth Brown, 65, of Jasonville, Ind., died Thursday at her home, according to a sister, Helen Swan of Owensboro. She was born in Central City.
Other survivors include her husband, Virgil Brown; a son, Dan Brown of Linten, Ind.; two grandsons and four other sisters, June Wood of Owensboro, Dorothy Mitchell and Sarah Farber, both of Evansville, and Emma Doss of Madisonville.
Services are 2 p.m. today in Jasonville.
Aged minister succumbs here
Rev. Granville O. Brown, well-known Minister of Gospel died December 31.
Granville O. Brown, 81 years old, died December 31 at his home on Reservoir Avenue, death being due to chronic bronchitis.
Mr. Brown was a minister of the gospel and was widely known in this section of the state, for years conducting outdoor services and devoting his time and energy to Jesus.
Funeral services were conducted at the Island Methodist Church, by the pastor Monday afternoon, January 2, and burial was in the Island cemetery.
Surviving are his widow, one son, Wilbur Brown of Harrisburg, Ill., two daughters and two brothers.
Harry Lee Brown, 56, died Wednesday morning at his home in Depoy. Funeral services were conducted at Oak Grove church, Depoy, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, five sons, mother and one brother.
Cleaton, Ky. - Mrs. Helen D. Brown, 50, died suddenly in the Muhlenberg Community hospital in Greenville Monday at 11:30 a.m.
Mrs. Brown lived in Cleaton for the past several years. She was a member of the Cleaton Baptist Church, and the Central City Chapter of the Woodman Circle.
Survivng are her husband, Bryant Brown, Cleaton, one son, Bryant Jr., Owensboro, three grandchildren, one brother, William Stevens, Cleaton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Cleaton Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Central City.
The body is at the late residence.
Blackie Brown Taken By Death
Well Known Citizen and Veteran of War Between the States Died Sunday.
The ranks of the surviving members of Muhlenberg veterans of the War Between the States were reduced Sunday when death claimed “Uncle” Blackie Brown, 92, a Union Soldier in the conflict between the States.
Mr. Brown died at the home of a son, Pete Brown, a resident of the Cherry Hill section of the county. For many years he resided in Central City and was a life-long resident of the county, being born near Cedar Grove.
He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist church, uniting many years ago, and was at one time Coroner of Muhlenberg county.
Services were held Monday afternoon at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Mr. Kittinger of Bremen and interment was in the church cemetery.
Surviving are five sons and one daughter: Mannie Brown, Bremen; Jim Brown, Earles; Dan Brown of Old Bethel community; Vasco Brown, a resident of Eastern Kentucky, and Pete Brown, R. 3, Central City; and Mrs. Jess Richie.
Jesse William Brown Dies At Cleaton
Jesse William Brown, 63, died at his home at Cleaton Saturday, December 29, at 4 p.m.
The body remained at the Tucker Funeral Home until the funeral, due to the illness of his wife and baby of five days of age.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Gray Brown; and six children.
Funeral services were held Sunday, at 2 p.m., at the residence, conducted by Mr. Bingham, pastor of the Cleaton Baptist church.
Burial was in Miller Cemetery.
John Brown, 87, of Greenville Route 2, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
A retired coal miner, he was born Dec. 31, 1892 in Muhlenberg.
He is survived by three sons, Oswald of Bradenson, Fla., Lindell of Powderly and Rollie Brown of Bremen; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Gootee of Central City, Mrs. Dixie Crick and Mrs. Jannie Steele of Powderly and Mrs. Inez Dugger of Portage, Ind.; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Gary Funeral Home with the Rev. John T. Rice officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Powderly.
John W. Brown, 80 years old, died at his home in Mercer on December 12. He is survived by his widow and several children. Burial was at the Dovey cemetery.
Mrs. Ernest Brown
Central City - Mrs. Marvin Alyne Brown, 59, River Road, died at Muhlenberg Community Hospital at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Born in McLean County on Jan. 17, 1910, she was a member of the Green River Chapel General Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Brown, Central City, a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Masten, Fort Bragg, N.C., a son, Don Brown, Rt. 2, Central City, six grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Rena Mercer, Central City.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Green River Chapel General Baptist Church with the Rev. Carol Yarbrough officiating, assisted by the Rev. E. W. Greenwalt.
Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery.
The body is at the Tucker Funeral Home where friends may call after noon today.
Mattie Dame Brown, 88, dies in Detroit
Mrs. Mattie Dame Brown, age 88, of 2445 West Grand Blvd., Detroit, Michigan, died Wednesday, February 18 at a Detroit, Michigan hospital. Mrs. Brown was formerly of McLean County.
Mrs. Brown was born September 19, 1881 in McLean County. She was the widow of the late Robert L. Brown.
Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Edna E. La Plants, Detroit and Mrs. Juanita Lazauskas, Chicago; three sons, Bert H. Brown, Lahabra, California, Walter Guynn, Sacramento and John W. Guynn, Texas, one brother Will Dame of Route One, Rumsey.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21 at the Muster Funeral Home in Calhoun. The Rev. S. A. Kittinger officiated. Pallbearers were Gordon Hines, Arlie Hines, Tommie Bell, Earl Bell, John M. Dame and Andrew Ellis.
Burial was in Poplar Grave Cemetery.
Note: Mattie Dame was the first wife of Joseph Evans Guynn and mother of Edgar Hamon Guynn, Walter Guynn, and John W. Guynn. Joseph Evans Guynn and Edgar Harmon Guynn are both buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City, Kentucky.
Mrs. Minnie Brown, 52, died December 30 at the home of her son, Harry Brown, of near Powderly. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Drexel Hankins at Oak Grove church, Depoy, at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial was in the church cemetery.
She is survived by five sons, Gilbert, Kirby Lee and Thelma Brown, all of Depoy; Noble and Harry E. Brown, both in the armed forces; two brothers, Denzel and Melvin Turner, both of Depoy, and five grandchildren.

Cleaton - Mrs. Nellie Gray Brown, 42, died at her home in Cleaton, Sunday, July 28 at 1:25 p.m. She was born in Muhlenberg County Oct. 4, 1914 and was a member of the Cleaton Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 30 at 2 p.m. at the Maple Grove Baptist Church in South Carrollton with the Rev. Joe Davis officiating. Burial was in the Fairmount Cemetery.
She is survived by three sons, Bobby, Otha Ray, and William Lucky Brown, all of Cleaton; three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Nicholls and Mrs. Shirley Kilmon of Henderson, Mrs. Alda Howell of Cleaton; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Vincent of Cleaton; three brothers, Eugene Vincent of Cleaton, Elmer Vincent of Russellville, Lucky Vincent of Beechmont; six sisters, Mrs. Violet Ingram of White Plains, Mrs. Lorene Romans of Morgantown, Mrs. Cora Nunley of Cleaton, Mrs. Irene Hughes of Chatsworth, Ill., Mrs. Sarah Ann Whitmer and Mrs. Sue Mohon of Central City Route 4.

Rochester Citizen Is Taken By Death
Wallace M. Brown, 78 years old, well-known Rochester business man and a member of a pioneer Ohio family, died at the Greenville Hospital at 7 p.m. Friday, July 22.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m., Sunday, July 24, at his home, by the Rev. Philip A. McAfee, pastor of the Rochester Methodist church.
He was prominently identified in business circles in Rochester and throughout the Green River area for many years and was an active member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Martha Brown; four daughters, Miss Bertha Brown, Miss Era Nell Brown, Miss Louise Brown, and Mrs. Margaret Marders, all of Rochester; two sons, Claude and Caroll Brown, both of Rochester.
Bremen - Clarence Jacob Browning, 86, of Bremen, died late Tuesday at McLean County Hospital, Calhoun. Born in Muhlenberg County, he was a member of Bremen Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Carolyn, Donnie and Ronnie Browning, all of Sacramento.
Services 2 p.m. today at Tucker Memorial Chapel, Sacramento, with the Rev. Ben Woodburn officiating. Burial in Briar Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Russellville - Mr. Jerry Glenn Browning, 57, of Russellville, died Friday, September 15, 1995 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr. Browning was born Muhlenberg County in June 14, 1938. He was employed at River Queen Coal Mines as a miner, member of New Cypress Baptist Church, and a member of Masonic Lodge #673 in Central City, Civil Defense. He was preceded in death by father, Arthur Browning and mother, Opal Mae Browning.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Browning of Russellville; one daughter, Cheryl Allen of Russellville; two sons, David Browning of Clare, Michigan and Terry Browning of Clare, Michigan; one brother, Buddy Browning of Cedarlake, Illinois; and one sister, Ruth Ross of Braidwood, Illinois.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 17 at 2 p.m. at Price Funeral Home, Inc. in Lewisburg with Rev. Harold Harvey officiating. Burial was in New Cypress Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.
Death of Infant.
The 1 month 5 day old infant of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bruce, died at their home in the Bethel community about 4 o'clock Wednesday morning from strangulation, Coroner Lonnie Bryan reported. The baby was found dead by the parents about 5 o'clock. Burial was at Cedar Grove cemetery.
