Black, Jesse L.

Mr. Jesse Black, living in Ellis' precinct, this county, died very suddenly last Wednesday. He was out at work and was taken with a dizziness of the head, and only lived a few hours. Mr. Black was an old and respected citizen, and his loss will be felt in the community.

Mrs. Leach's Brother, 85, Dies in Hartford

Hartford - Thomas H. Black, 85, a retired farmer, died Thursday, March 13 in the Ohio County Hospital. He had suffered from a heart ailment.

Mr. Black was a former sheriff and jailer of Ohio County and served as county drainage commissioner.

Surviving are a daughter, Miss Lola Geneva Black, and a sister, Mrs. O.L. Leach, Central City. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hartford Methodist Church.

J.W. Blackburn Dies At Home Here Tuesday Night
Funeral Services Held from Home; Interment in Fairmount Cemetery.

John Washington Blackburn, a long time resident of Central City, died at his home here Tuesday night after several weeks illness of complications.

Mr. Blackburn was one of the older business men of the city, having come here thirty years ago to engage in the transfer business, first using horse-drawn vehicles, and later, as the auto became popular, discarded the horses in favor of the machines, and retired from business only when his health failed.

He married, when quite a young man, Miss Cora Parrott, of McHenry, and to this union four children were born. One little girl died when quite small, and the remaining three, Mrs. William Threadgill, of Dawson Springs, and George Blackburn and Harry Blackburn, of Central City, together with the widow, also of Central City, survive him.

Mr. Blackburn was born in Springfield, Ill., 67 years ago, but came as a child with his widowed mother to McHenry where he lived until he located in Central City.

Funeral services were conducted from the home at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, the Rev. O.P Bush, pastor of the Baptist Church of which Mr. Blackburn was a member, officiating. Funeral services were conducted at the grave by the Central City Lodge of Masons, of which Mr. Blackburn had been a member since taking up his residence in Central City.

The pallbearers were Mayor-elect Freeman Hershberg, Judge H.E. Coche, Mike Poulos, Roy M. Wright, Ashton Wright and W.M. Wells. Interment was in Fairmount Cemetery by the side of his little girl buried 28 years ago.

Blackwell, Eliza Ann Newman Davis

Died. In this city, on Saturday the 13th inst., Mrs. E.A. Blackwell. The deceased was the mother of Mrs. A.A. and Mrs. J.C. Johnston of this city. The remains were taken to Augusta for interment on Sunday, a large number of people following them to their last resting place.
