Ehlschide, Verdie

Infant dies
Verdie Ehlschide, the infant daughter of Johnnie Ehlschide and Agnes Benson Ehlschide, died suddenly at the home of her parents at Morgan. The funeral was conducted from the residence on Wednesday with interment in the Dovie cemetery.

Elkins, Casandra

Mrs. Casandra Elkins, 82 years old, died at her home on Brank street here at 11:30 o'clock Thursday morning of injuries she sustained when she fell at her home on December 27.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Roy H. Short, pastor of the Methodist church, will be held at the home at 10 o'clock this morning, and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery here. Surviving Mrs. Elkins are two sons, E.E. Elkins, and Ross Elkins, both of Greenville.

Elliot, James

James, the two year old son of Harry Elliot, colored, died from a complication of troubles Monday. Interment was in the west end cemetery Tuesday afternoon.

Ellis, James French

Mr. Ellis's Brother, 77, Dies in Rumsey

Rumsey - James French Ellis, 77, retired blacksmith, died at his home here at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30.

A native of McLean County, he was a member of the Poplar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sara Hallie Ellis; five daughters, Mrs. Wayne Hays, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Lester Cobb, Mrs. Glover Settle, Mrs. Elwood Cessna, and Mrs. Chester Arnold, all of Rumsey; two sons, Thurman Ellis and Wayman Ellis, both of Rumsey; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Reid Rust, Sacramento [Ky.]; one brother, John Ellis, Central City.

Elschide, John W.

John W. Elschide dies at Mercer
Residence of Mercer dies after 2-months illness; Funeral services January 1.

John W. Elschide, 59 years old, died at his home in the Mercer community on December 29, after a two-months illness.

Funeral services were held at the Pentecost Church, at Morgan Mine, January 1, and burial was in the Dovey Cemetery.

Mr. Elschide professed faith in Christ a few days before his death, laving [sic] the assurance he had made peace with god [sic].

Surviving are four children, Freddie, Johnnie and Charles Elschide, of Mercer, and daughter, Katie of Central City; three brothers Willie, Freddian and Andy Elschide, and a sister, all of Mercer, and another sister, Mrs. Charles Galager of Pineville, W. Va.

The Odd Fellows and members of the United Mine Workers of America had charge of the services at the grave, Mr. Elschide being a member of each order.

W.H. Elschide, 77, Is Buried Sunday

Powderly - The Rev. William H. Elschide, 77, died at 10 p.m. Thursday, March 30 at his home in Powderly. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Bob Spears officiating with burial in the Brownsville Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hallie Elschide; three sons, Charles of Lake Village, Ind., Herbert of Chicago, William of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Eunice Quarry of Evansville, Mrs. Bunie Hayes of Chandler, Ind., Mrs. Nancy Deuresett of Mt. Carmel, Ill., Mrs. Ordel Cephus of Williamsport, Ind.; one step-daughter and three step-sons.
