Ernest Purdy, 66, of 1201 Independence Ave. died Thursday at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. He was born in South Carolina, was an electrician, a member of Local 1701 of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Purdy; a stepson, Billy D. Jones of Owensboro; three stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Nellie Purdy Millard of Central City.
Services are 1 p.m. Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home. Burial is 3 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City. Visitation from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
Greenville - F.M. Puryear Sr., 72, died at 11:40 a.m. Sunday in Muhlenberg Community Hospital, following an illness of a few weeks.
Mr. Puryear was born Sept. 20, 1896 in Greenville and was Texaco Oil Co. distributor in the Greenville area for 40 years. He was a real estate broker and was a director of First State Bank for 14 years.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Elsie Puryear of Greenville; one daughters, Mrs. H. N. Kirkpatrick of Greenville; one son, F. M. Puryear Jr. of Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Jane Pannell and Mrs. Helen Rice, both of Greenville; one brother, W. R. Puryear of Greenville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Gary's Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. A. B. Gross. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
