Webb, Cennia Marie

Powderly - Mrs. Cennia Marie Webb, 55, of Powderly, died early yesterday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was a native of Muhlenberg County.

Survivors include her husbnad, J. D. Webb; three daughters, Mrs. Mickey Perry, Central City; Mrs. Bill Favors, Henderson, and Mrs. Richard Thompson, Powderly; 10 grandchildren and two brothers, Jewell and Chester Moore, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Johnson and Mrs. Maude Alice Mayer, all of Evansville.

Services 2 p.m. Friday at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Tommie Pendley officiating. Burial in Muhlenberg County Memorial Gardens, Powderly. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.

Emmitt Weir, 69, of Chicago died there Sunday at Westside Veteran's Administration Hospital. Services are 3 p.m. today at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church, Greenville. Burial in West End Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation at Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville.

Weir, Harriet R.

Greenville, Ky., Feb. 17 - Mrs. Harriet R. Weir, who was one of the pioneers of Greenville and Muhlenberg county, died at the home of her son, Miller Weir, at Jacksonville, Ill., at the age of 92 years. She was the widow of E. R. Weir, Sr., and came to Greenville eighty years ago. The body will arrive here Tuesday and interment will follow Wednesday.

Harry Weir, Member of Pioneer Muhlenberg Family, Succumbs Sunday.
Greenville, Ky., June 22. - Harry Weir, 61 years old, died at his home on North Main street at 12:30 o'clock Sunday, following an illness lasting several weeks. A funeral service was held at the grave, in Evergreen cemetery, here, at 6:30 o'clock this evening.

Harry Weir was born and reared in Greenville. He was a son of Col. Edward Rumsey Weir, an officer in the Union army in the War Between the States, and was a great-grandson of James Weir, a pioneer merchant of Greenville, who came to the town just after it had been established. For many years the Weirs were active in the business and social life of Greenville and Muhlenberg county, but the passing of Harry Weir removes the last of the name from this section.

Deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruth Grundy Weir; one brother, Jerome Weir, Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. W. D. Reeves, Helena, Arkansas, and Mrs. Max Layne, Memphis, Tennessee, and an uncle, Miller Weir, Jacksonville, Illinois.

Welborn, Isadore Maude

Greenville - Mrs. Isadore Maude Welborn, 90, of 700 Lovell Drive, Greenvillle, died Sunday, March 4 (1984) at 8 p.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.

Mrs. Welborn was born in Muhlenberg County, June 28, 1893. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Dee O'Neil of California and several nieces.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 7 at 10 a.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Robert Bozarth officiating, assisted by Rev. Everett Wilkins. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mann Welborn, 82, Dies at Kirkmansville

Mann Welborn, 82, died Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at his home in Kirksmansville. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Kirksmansville at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Grover, pastor, officiating. Burial was in McPherson Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Welborn; seven daughters, Mrs. Earl Strader of Dunmor, Mrs. Hazel Strader, Beechmont, Ms. Sam Browning of Route 1, Greenville, Mrs. Lonnie Greenwood of Route 2, Greenville, Mrs. Richard McIntosh of Route 1, Greenville, Miss Nettie Welborn of Kirksmanville, and Mrs. Ralph McPherson of Filo, Ill.; seven sons, Dean Welborn of Central City, Hutch Welborn of Illinois, Cook Welborn of Dunmor, Herman Welborn of Elkton, Vernon Welborn of Illinois, Thurman Welborn of Hopkinsville and Roland Joines, stepson, Greenville; 33 grandchildren, 23 great-grand-children; two sisters, Mrs. John McGhee of New Harmony, and Mrs. Bertha Moore of Dunmor.

Wells, Annie Lee

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Lee Wells

Mrs. Annie Lee Wells, beloved wife of Calvin Dewey Wells, died at her home in the Stringtown Road following an illness over a period of several months.

Mrs. Wells was a lovely character and her death at the age of 34 is greatly regretted by her friends. She is survived by her husband.

Funeral services were conducted on January 4 and interment was in the Jagoe Cemetery.

Belton - Mrs. Clemice Wells, 49, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville, following a short illness.

She was born in Muhlenberg county, June 5, 1915, and was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Edgar Wells; four brothers, Everett Shank, Route 1, Bremen, Clifton and Aubrey Shanks, both of Louisville, Cecil Shank of Vancouver, Wash.; five sisters, Mrs. Gertie McDonald, Route 1, Greenville, Mrs. Anna Mae Vincent and Mrs. Pauline Vincent, both of Route 1, Central City, Mrs. Vernice Vincent, Route 1, Bremen, Mrs. janie Ray Faulk, Jeffersontown, Ky., and father, Loof Shank, Route 1, Central City.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at East Union Baptist church, the Rev. Fred Fox officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at the Gary Funeral Home, Greeville.

Mrs. Helen R. Wells, Dies

Mrs. Helen Wells, Cleaton, passed suddenly at her residence Monday evening, December 5th.

The body was removed to the Elliott & Elliott Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10th at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Cleaton, of which she was a member. The eulogy was delivered by Rev. C.L. Jones, the pastor.

Surviving are Tom Wells, husband; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Vaughn, Chicago, Mrs. Eva Duncan, Cleaton; a son, Chester Rutledge, Terre Haute, Ind. Eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Robinson, Detroit#&59; Mesdames Lottie Zackery and Hattie C. Hardwick, both of Chattanooga, Tenn. Two brothers, Ernest and Moses Champion, Dechard, Tenn.

Members of the Ladies Sacrificers Reserve Club, of which she was a member, served as floral bearers, members of the United Sacrificers of America served as casket bearers.

Burial was in West End Cemetery, Greenville.

Wells, John Thomas

Hartford - John Thomas Wells, 86, died Monday night at the Ohio County Hospital.

A native of Muhlenberg County, Wells had lived in Cleaton most of his life. He was a retired miner, and belonged to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Cleaton, and Mt. Ararat Masonic Lodge No. 73, Central City.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Georgia Wells; one foster daughter, Miss Mary Lou McHenry, at home; four step-daughters, Mrs. Eva Duncan of Cleaton, Mrs. Clara Vaughn of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Mamie Hailey and Mrs. Mabel Jennings, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; a step-son, Elwood of Hartford, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Washington, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West End Cemetery, Greenville.

Friends may call at the Bibbs Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Friday.

Greenville - L.B. Wells, 57, of Route 3 Elkton, died Tuesday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Born in Christian County, he was a farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Verena Alma Wells; a son, Cletis Ray Wells, Elkton; two stepsons, Bill Wells, Allegrie, and Bobbie V. Mayes, Madisonvlle; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Helen Marie Rager and Mrs. Bunnie Ruth Jones, both of Elkton; five brothers, G.C. Wells, Evansville; Luther, Olan, and Eldaris Wells, all of Hopkinsville, and James Wells, Allegrie; two sisters, Mrs. Ival Walker, and Mrs. Brookie Laster, both of Greenville, and 14 grandchildren.

Services 2 p.m. Friday at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Carroll Yarbrough officiating. Burial in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12:30 p.m. today.

Greenville - Shelley D. Wells, 58, of Greenville died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1980, at his home. He was born in Muhlenberg County and was a member of Rhodes Chapel Church.

Survivors include a son, Charles Wells of Louisville; a daughter, Nancy of Russellville; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three sisters, Mrs. Birdie Mae Wells, Mrs. Margaret Lovan and Mrs. Gertrude Drake, all of Greenville.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church, Greenville. Burial in West End Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville.

Wells, Taylor A.

Greenville - Taylor A. Wells, 79, of Muhlenberg County, died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday in Muhlenberg Community Hospital, following an illness of several months.

Mr. Wells was born Aug. 7, 1889 in Muhlenberg County. He was a building contractor.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rose Wells of Greenville, Rt. 2; four daughters, Mrs. Lorene Moore of Powderly, and Mrs. Bernice Johnson, Mrs. Ruby Lucas and Mrs. Hilda Newman, all of Greenville; three sons, Orvil Wells of Greenville, Taylor H. Wells of Greenville and Paul Wells of Madisonville; one brother, Wallace Wells of Greenville; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today, at Gary's Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Houston Noffsinger, assited by the Rev. Fred Fox. Burial will be in Muhlenberg County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home.

West, Evil

Evil West, 70, of 4139 DeSota Ave. died Tuesday.

He moved here from Kentucky in 1969 and was a member of Masadonia Baptist Church in Christian County, Ky.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Belvie West of Fort Myers; two daughters, Joan Juckett and Gloria Davis of Hopkinsville, Ky.; a step-son, Tommy West; two step-grandsons, Mickey West and Rick West; six grandchildren and two brothers, Arvil West and Clyde West of Greenville, Ky.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Leo W. Engelhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan McAbee officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bill Smith, Mickey West, Joe Spiller, Phil Pedley Jr., Tim Spiller and Earl Nobles.

Burial will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

West, Sol

Sol West, Drakesboro, Dies in Hopkinsville

Sol West, Drakesboro merchant, died at 11:20 p.m., Wednesday at the Jennie Stuart Hospital, Hopkinsville. He was 72. Ernest West, 69, his brother, died earlier the same day at his home at Island.

Sol West had been in ill health for sometime. He had been in business in Drakesboro for several years. He was a member of the Drakesboro Baptist Church and the International Order of Odd Fellows.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lennie West; three sisters, Mrs. Gertie Lyons and Mrs. Mattie Jessup, both of Central City, and Mrs. Blanche Morris of Cleaton; three brothers, Neal West, Central City, Charlie West, Cleaton, and Ezra West, Evansville.

Funeral services for Sol West were held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Drakesboro Baptist Church with the Rev. A. T. Ross officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery in Central City.

Military Funeral Held Oct. 16 for VN Victim

Services for Donnie Lee Wester were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Drakesboro Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Marvin Ward, pastor of Belton Baptist Church. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with military rites at graveside.

Sp/4 Wester, 20, was killed in a helicopter crash Oct. 2 in Vietnam. He was born March 15, 1948, in McLean County.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dellwood Wester, Drakesboro; one brother, Anthony Duwayne Wester of Drakesboro; two sisters, Mrs. Janette Kay Ward of Beech Creek and Mrs. Elizabeth Diane Ferguson of Louisville; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Lear of Greenville; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Cassie Wester of Drakesboro.
