Mrs. Mary Wray, 86, Dies Sept. 20 In Beech Creek
Mrs. Mary Rust Wray, 86, well known resident of Beech Creek, died at her home Friday, Sept. 20 at 10:15 P.M. She was born in Pembroke, Christian County, April 3, 1860.
Funeral services were held Sunday Sept. 22, 2:30 P.M., in the Hazel Creek Church, with Rev. Kenneth S. Clendaniel officiating. and Rev. Forsythe assisting. The Parker and Washburne Funeral Home arranged the funeral. Burial was in the church cemetery with her grandsons acting as pallbearers, and her granddaughters serving as flower girls.
She is survived by three sons, Tom, Herschel and Henderson Wray, all of Belton; two daughters, Mrs. A. L. Wagoner, of Dunmor, and Mrs. Basil Parker, of Beech Creek; three sisters, Mrs. G. B. Ginsey and Mrs. E. T. Cisney, of Rosewood, and Mrs. Hugh Lee, of Weir; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wray was a member of Myers Chapel.
Wright Infant Dies
The baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Joe Wright of Central City died during birth Saturday morning at the Muhlenberg County Community Hospital.
Burial was in the Browder Negro cemetery.
F.P. Wright's death came as shock to county
Prominent coal operator dies at Bevier Saturday morning.
One of the most distinct losses ever sustained by Muhlenberg county and Western Kentucky was the death last Saturday morning of Frederick Parker Wright, for twenty-six years general manager of the Crescent Coal Company at Bevier and prominent among coal operators of the country.
He had been ill only a week and his death was due to endocarditis. Although he had reached the advanced age of 75 years, one month and four days, he had been very active until a few days previous to his death. He had served eight years as president and vice president of the Western Kentucky Coal Operators Association. He was a devout member of the Episcopal church. A biographical sketch and tribute will be found elsewhere in today]s issue of The Argus.
The body was transported to Nashville, Tennessee, Monday morning by a special train, where the burial occurred that afternoon at Mt. Olivet cemetery. In addition to E.J. Anderson, funeral director of this city, who had charge of all funeral arrangements, those who accompanied the body to Nashville were: Mrs. J.A. Smith, Central City, and the pall bearers, J.A. Smith, Ed W. Holt, and Charles Rodman, Central City; C.W. Taylor, W.G. Duncan and C.M. Martin, Greenville; D.D. Duncan and Wick Graham, Bevier.
Greenville - Mrs. Maud E. Wright, 80, widow of Robert M. Wright, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday at her home in New Cypress, following a short illness. She was born ini Muhlenberg County April 21, 1887, and was a member of the East Union Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Loren Vick, Route 1, Greenville, Mrs. Alvin Wells, of Graham, and Mrs. Palace Walker, Route 1, Greenville; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Julie Browning, of Hopkinsville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the East Union Baptist Church by the Rev. Fred Fox. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body is at the home of Mrs. Vick, where friends may call. Gary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Andy Wright dies at home here Saturday night
Funeral services held Monday afternoon at Baptist church; burial in Fairmount.
Funeral services for Mrs. Andy Wright, who passed away at 8:40 o'clock Saturday night, March 26, at her home here, were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Baptist Church, which she was a member. Rev. O.P. Bush, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by the Rev. C.C. England, pastor of the Christian Church. Interment was in Fairmount cemetery.
Mrs. Wright, the daughter of A.J. Capps and Louvina Hammonds Capps, was born on May 13, 1879, near Gishton, in Muhlenberg County. When quite a young woman she married Andrew Wright and to this union one child was born, Mrs. Dan Hawes, this city. Mrs. Wright had been in ill health for about six weeks.
About 20 years ago she moved with her husband and child to Central City, where by her kind and gentle disposition she endeared herself to all her acquaintances.
Early in life she joined the Baptist Church and has been an active consistent member of same.
She was also for many years an active member of the Eastern Star of Central City, being Martha in that organization. The entire membership was present at her funeral and conducted the services at the grave.
Surviving are her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Daniel Hawes; one grandson, Daniel Wright Hawes, city; four brothers, Amos Capps, Elmer Capps, Roy Capps and Ray Capps; four sisters, Mrs. Addie Gossett of Madisonville, Mrs. Alice Millard, Mrs. Dora Whitmer and Mrs. Vern Rhoads.
