In a short while the building was discovered to be on fire, and although many persons were near it, no one reached the door in time to save the boy, whose torso was found after the fire had burned out.

He remained unconscious for some weeks, but slowly recovered, being able to be out a short while, but he soon was confined to his home, and no relief could be secured.
