Drake, Birdie Corine

Greenville - Mrs. Birdie Corine Drake, 80, of Greenville, died at 3:05 p.m. Friday at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

She was a native of Muhlenberg County and a member of Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church.

She is survived by four sons, Joseph, Ellsworth, and Franklin, all of Greenville, and Wellington of Gary, Ind., and one stepson, Walter of Springfield, Ohio.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Bibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Alverna Bard, pastor of Gough Tabernacle AME Zion Church, Earlington, officiating. Burial will be in Rhodes Chapel Cemetery, Route 2, Greenville.

Friends may call at the Bibbs Funeral Home.

Drake, Eva A.

Drake, Joseph

Greenville - Joseph Drake, 62, Greenville, died yesterday at his home. A World War II veteran, he was a member of Wesley Chapel Zion AME Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Finis Ellsworth Drake, Greenville, and Wellington Drake, Gary, Ind.

Services 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial in Rhodes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Drake, Mary Lee

Greenville - Mary Lee Drake, 70, of Greenville, died Friday, Jan. 20, 1995, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was a daughter of the late Shelby and Forrest Saulsberry; was a member of Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church in Greenville; and was a graduate of Drakesboro Community High School and had attended Tennessee State University.

Survivors include her husband, Finis Ellsworth Drake; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Claude Gregory and Linda and Clarence Parker, all of Greenville; five grandchildren, Donna Gregory of Western Kentucky University, Melissia Gregory, Teffany Parker, Jermaine Parker and Samatha Parker, all of Greenville; and a host of cousins.

Services are at 2 p.m Sunday at Bibbs Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in West End Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Drake, Minnie

Greenville, Ky. - Miss Minnie Drake, 97, of Greenville died there Tuesday at Maple Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Muhlenberg County and was the oldest member of Greenville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four cousins, W. T. Issac [sic] Jr. of Louisville, John R. Drake of Ypsilanti, Mich., Dudley Drake of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Mrs. Porter Chappell of Memphis.

Services are 10:30 a.m. today at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation at the funeral home.

Drake, Sarah

Sarah Drake was born Aug. 21, 1855, died January 6, 1928, age 72 years, 4 months and fifteen days.

She was married to J.F. Drake in 1876. To this union were born eleven children, ten of whom survive, Mrs. J.M. Craft, Rosewood; Mrs. D. Ford, Avon Park, Fla.; Mrs. George Hardison of Kirkmansville; Mrs. B.F. Drake, Hopkinsville; Mrs. Shelby Carey, of Weir; Mrs. W.K. Drake, of Alabama; Mrs. Calvin Blake, of Clifty, Miss.; Ermine Drake, S.R. Drake and J.G. Drake, all of Kirkmansville. Besides her husband and children she leaves 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and one brother, R.Y. King, of Tennessee, and three sisters, Mrs. Dr. Lewis of Greenville, Mrs. M.L. Prowse of California, and Mrs. Rebecca Wells, of Bancroft.

She professed religion in early life and lived a faithful Christian until death. She had been in declining health for several years and had suffered intensely, but bore it patiently with unwavering faith in Him.

Funeral services were conducted at Emberry church by her pastor, W.W. Harrell and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the church to await the Resurrection.
